that puff piece in boxing monthly now is looking particularly ridiculous in the light of this shooting. not one boxing trade publication has voiced concerns about the involvement of serious gangsters in mgm, even when people like jamie moore were getting shot. mgm have cast a long shadow over boxing, and their influence seemed to be growing...but who will touch them now?

Its a strange series in that it gets better when the "name" actors are less involved. you'll burn thru it cos there's only 3 eps in the the first series and 6 in all the rest.

Its ok people saying who will touch MGM extra with a barge pole but people forget DK now manages a lot of Boxing stars (Derry Mathews and Billy Joe Saunders seem to always make a special point of thanking him and Martin Murray has just signed with him too) - its gonna be hard for these promoters to keep him/MGM away when they have contracts with some of their biggest stars.

Agreed money talks I suppose. But maybe the end result will be the fighters dont even get to the negotiating table now given what has happened

Fighters faults for getting involved with such scum. In an age where it's pretty easy to get yourself noticed and 'out there', they shouldn't feel the need to rely on any help from too many others, especially pond life like that.

I was always led to believe Macklin was a pretty intelligent chap. Why he would want to get wrapped around these types given his position I don't know. Maybe he likes the "image"?

No great surprise that MGM has links like this as not many companies pop up out of nowhere in the fashion they did and they are expanding quite rapidly.

Obviously boxing has always had its gangland links etc but taking chances at weigh ins and risking the well being of innocent bystanders especially children is ridiculous.

For those mentioning Love/Hate, i started watching it last week just y coincedence. If anyone uses Kodi for streaming etc then it can be found on there. Good programme.

International drug and arms traffickers living in the sun have lots of money, lots of leisure time and lots of glamorous women around them. They are welcomed into every club and bar because they spend a lot, people who aren't into the actual business like to be around such people, they always have - sports, show business and crime always mix, Damon Runyon wrote about it 80 odd years ago.

I understand why some people would like that, but Macklin surely has a few quid, boxed to a very high level and has plenty about him. Surely he don't need the grief that comes with knocking around with that lot. I'm sure when standing alongside any of them in a bar etc, he's the main attraction

Lots of people bout and about won't know who Macklin is, going millionaires with easy access to drugs are seen as characters, many in the leisure class take drugs recreationally see nothing in it.
