Best losses

My apologies if this has been done before. Who do you think has the best loss record? That is lost only to the very best and then only rarely? I'm thinking like Gerry Cooney who only had three losses, all to Hall of Fame Heavyweight Champions or Joe Frazier; four losses to Foreman and ALi. What thinks thee?

Frazier definitely qualifies here, especially since all four of his losses came past his peak.

Oscar De La Hoya: 6 losses (Trinidad, Mosley x 2, Hopkins, Mayweather, Pacquiao)... all against future HOFers.

Really, only the first Mosley one did he clearly lose and was close to his prime. Even that he fought a great fight but Mosley was simply better.

A few of others:
Joe Louis- Only losses were to Schmeling Charles, and Marciano, and he was way past it against Charles and Marciano.

Tunney -Only loss was to Greb.

Eder Jofre-Only losses were to Fighting Harada.

James Jeffries-Only loss was to Jack Johnson and that was after a long layoff.

Esteban Dejesus - only losses were to Antonio Gomez, Roberto Duran (twice), Antonio Cervantes and Saoul Mamby. All world champions.

Sugar Ray Leonard: Roberto Duran, Terry Norris, Hector Camacho

The latter two he was well past his best, but they're still great or at the very least very good fighters he lost to.

Nice one. No offence to Leija but he slightly tarnishes what would have been a real good losing list for Nelson.

Yeah I thought so too, but still felt the list was good enough overall to post, and Leija is still a solid fighter in his own right. His fights with Nelson were 130 pounds. Leija was much more effective there, after he went to 135 and beyond he started being a stepping stone for guys.

Hideyuki Ohashi-Chana Porpaoin, Ricardo Lopez, Jung Koo Chang (twice) and Bong-Jun Kim,all world champions with two of them arguable the best in their respective division's.

Yeah the first foreman vs frazier fight was an awesome loss. Oh wait and the second one was a great loss aswell. You cant get much better losses than those two right there good choices.

Larry Holmes could have featured in this thread had he not fought until he was 905 years old, with losses to ATGs, Michael Spinks, Mike Tyson & Evander Holyfield & all when past his best too.

My answer was based upon the quality of fighters Frazier lost to, not how the actual fights themselves went down.

Foreman and Ali are obviously two of the greatest fighters of all-time and are the only men to defeat Frazier, albeit a past peak Frazier. I would seriously doubt that there is anyone in boxing history whose only losses were to two better fighters than Ali and Foreman.

The original poster of this thread also nominated Frazier as a logical answer to the topic question!

But I've seen some of your posts before and I would seriously doubt that you have the cognitive ability to understand all this.
