What does his countrymen think
What does his countrymen think
After picking a welterweight to fight who he will out weigh by probably 30lb come fight night, what would be his countrymens thoughts seeing the tradition has been for Mexicans to be warriors and here is canelo fighting midgets in comparison to himself, how many fans has he lost taking the easy fights instead of the man he should be fighting
Re: What does his countrymen think
I think his countrymen should love him even more for not selling out and taking a showcase fight for his first title defense of the title like most boxers. I can't understand the criticism with this and find it ridiculous. Look, i get the whole MW weight minimum issue but would you rather Canelo fight Gabe Rosado or Willie Monroe Jr at 160 instead?
Canelo's ability to substantially move the scale to the right hours after a weigh-in is a huge asset, so why not use it? Canelo vs. Khan is a great fight any way you want to slice it. The numbers will not only prove that but will also show how well represented he is by Mexican's everywhere.

Re: What does his countrymen think
i'm not mexican and i doubt you will get many mexicans defending him
on here, but for GGG once again to step aside as mandatory for the WBC
only for canelo to defend against a contender two divisions down reflects
just as badly on GGG, the WBC, and HBO. it shouldn't be approved as a
defense of that title, period. for some reason people think that money is
the reason why this fight is happening, as if khan is this huge draw. i'm
skeptical about this claim. i think canelo just picked the easiest opponent
he could get away with fighting and that is the only reason he picked khan.
khan just took the fight because he has been fighting once a year for
several years now waiting for floyd and manny and finally realized he isn't
getting overpaid to fight either so he went to the next biggest moneymaker
in the sport and got enough of a split. he knows he's going to lose to the
top welters, so why not lose for more money against somebody bigger
where he will have an excuse for losing after? this fight is a train wreck.

Re: What does his countrymen think
This fight is a crock of shit, defending it is embarrassing and shows spectacular lack of vision.
But, there is a cure. First step is locating a young priest, an old priest, and a witness..

Re: What does his countrymen think
...his fans will surely find an excuse for their darling...most fans always do...
Re: What does his countrymen think
I'm sure many are thinking if he loses this fight, he will be a disgrace to the country. I wonder if he has a rematch clause?
