Super featherweight British title.

Post by Jc89 »

Anyone know if Liam Walsh has actually vacated this? Heard he may have done but not seen confirmation. And who would fight for it? You've got Troy James who deserves a shot. Maxi Hughes just won an eliminator in Belfast at the weekend. Isn't Ronnie Clarkes next fight also an eliminator? Not to mention Martin J Ward, Mitchell smith, Jupp, Sykes etc. Some good fights to be had.

Strange how Walsh and Smigga got to sit on their British titles for long periods without being stripped yet Limond got stripped of his pretty swiftly

Ronnie or mccorry will possibly fight Hughes in a final. Just the route being taken. Liam has had I jury's as has his mandatory Troy James. I heard he was vacating but don't think he will. Want it outright I would imagine. Division has gone a bit stale.

Martin j ward has won a eliminator. Townend is English champ and defended his title a couple of times and out again soon. Troy is mandatory so he will deffo get a shot at vacant title if it's vacated. Cud b interesting next board notices. Imo troy v townend wud b good.

Still champion, think we'll see him go through with the mandatory against James sometime in April as a warm up for a bigger fight in the summer, then possibly another defence after that to get it outright.

Think he's treading water fighting domestically now. He's ready to move on. Wouldn't be surprised to see one of franks fighters given a shot when he does though & keep that belt in house.
Reckon ward will go for the European as he has mentioned it a few times in recent interviews, can see Mitchell smith dropping down a weight. Leaves James, maxi, Townend & winner of Ronnie Clarks fight.

Imo ward done nothing to to be in line for a European shot. Was lucky to get the draw with maxi tho he boxed better in the rematch his still not above domestic level.

Some cracking fights out there I'd love townend to get a shot as I've fowolled his career since he turned pro watch all his fights at the donny dome and Barnsley metrodome carries enough power to trouble anyone in that division imo and on a cracking run of form the names been mentioned anyone of them fight each other the fans are in for a treat

Yea him & maxi had 4 amateur fights too. Both won 2 each. Maxi v townend at Donny dome would be good seems as that's maxis home town.or even better on a Warrington undercard. Townend's team have already turned it down once before though

We've been told Walsh likely to fight April time, no date been fixed as of yet.
Troy was made mandatory a good while ago now by the board after having his 2 eliminators so if Walsh does decide to vacate instead then one of the others must face Troy for the vacant titles. Ward doesn't deserve a shot as hasn't fought no one yet and needs to get himself in the mix, Jupp Vs Smith rematch, winner then put them self in the mix for either a eliminator with Ward or one of the other lads, then winner of Hughes Eliminator & Winner of Ronnie Clark eliminator to face each other in a final eliminator.
I can see it being Townend personally if title becomes vacant, has English champion he is most deserving behind Troy IMO, I honestly think this is a great fight for Troy, one he wins without doubt.
On a personal level I'd like to see Ronnie Clark win his eliminator so him and Troy can fight again. I promised him if Troy wins the British we will give him a rematch, he's never had it easy and is a great guy, and if he wins his eliminator I can't see there being a problem with the board agreeing.

I love watching Buckland but I think he has been in too many tough fights now, cant see him beating any of the top 5. If Walsh vacates its looking like James v Townend then. With Maxi vs the winner of Ronnie clarkes fight to be mandatory. All good fights like you say.

Well it was Liam Walsh who said it in an interview with iFL if I remember correctly. Like I said, its not been confirmed but he mentioned something about it. I like Liam walsh a lot and I know he has been unlucky with injuries but if he wasn't with warren (who's obviously still got board in his pocket after helping em out) then he would have been stripped of it.

Never heard about townend and team turning that down normally upto scratch on things that happen in these parts (Doncaster/Barnsley/Rotherham)would av been a good fight must av been a few year ago when offered tho I know townend fancied Mitchell Smith fight but he vacated English title

What would he have been stripped for?

Won the belt against Sykes, defended it three months later against Murray, was going to fight his mandatory in July then James got injured and is only just ready to return.

Yh I don't think he deserves to be stripped and he won't be either IMO, I'm lead to believe he will be ready to fight Troy as I said in April, and is very keen on the Troy fight, all Walsh lads are good fighters and great lads too, gentlemen, can't speak high enough of them, Graham or the whole team, Troy was injured last June and then Then after Walsh was injured and needed hand operation so just one of them things.

I think people r getting confused with the fact liam has held the commonwealth title for so long (since 2010) rather than the British title and only defended it 5 times.

In my opinion ward won't fight any of the domestic lads, all risky, I am hopeful of Ronnie getting through his eliminator and setting up the maxi Hughes rematch, we felt he won the first fight over 4 rounds and feel over a longer distance is suited for Ronnie. But one fight at a time, Jordan mccorry is a strong lad who has moved down from lightweight and be a big super feather.

Troy deserves his shot and for me I think Troy and team will want Walsh, they have the mentality of fighting the best and it is a very good match up, I love reading people under estimate Troy boxing ability. He's very compact and makes him awkward and through from strange angles. Walsh be favourite of course but wouldn't shock me one bit.

Dean that's a great touch with looking to give Ronnie a rematch if Troy wins . True boxing people not enough out there. Nobody knows the lengths Ronnie goes to with trying to make it in this game. He done a month out in Marbella there thanks to amazing sponsors who have gave him another good opportunity and he's now back in his car this time towing a caravan down in England sparring ha, if Troy is in gym drop him a message mate think he's down till Sunday.

Super Feather is quite a weak division on a World Level. I would fancy Liam against all World Champions at that weight. It is a surprise he holds onto these titles. Domestically it's really strong. I would like Liam to fight for a World Title next he is past domestic level. I think if he gets the opportunity he will. I think Townend or Cacacae v Troy would be the most fair fight if he vacated. Maxi just beat Fryers so should be back in the mix.. Ward beat Maxi so again he is there also.. If Ronnie gets past Mcrorry then he gets his name back in the mix.. 4 man tournament would be good.. Maxi, Ward, Townend and winner Clark v Mcrorry winner fights for British Title. Some cracking fights in there for the fans. .

Yh I'd be happy to see that, be a good couple fights then the rightful winner would deserve his chance, in the mean time Troy fights Walsh or Walsh vacates and Troy fight Buckland for it has Troy is Mandatory and rightfully so top of the pack, while all the others fight each other for mandatory position like we had too

do u think Buckland could still make super feather and wud the board pass him with recent results and activity lost 4-6 and hasn't made super feather since the Smith fight.
