I think it's probably a bit absurd to say that anyone would be fighting for 5% of the purse. They most certainly won't get the majority share, but 30% is probably standard, maybe 40% if they can drag a biggish name out.

Reckon Martin is stalling now he has been called out, hence Hearn now appearing on the Sky boxing site and releasing the info to Boxing news.

Really hoping Martin signs, fight must be close but not over the line clearly just yet

It will not be Charles Martin. They won't put Joshua in for a world title fight now.

It could well be that they are using Martin's name as a bargaining chip against whoever else is in the mix. I still think Martin in the summer at Wembley makes more sense, providing Joshua comes through a test in April.

30% is far too much for most fighters.

That makes sense. No way Martin volunteering to fight Joshua. Haymon people are pulling Wilder routine by offering fighters ridiculous deals, so that after a refusal they can claim they are been ducked. Joshua will KO Martin within 2 rounds, that's a guarantee.

If the Martin fight comes off and AJ beats him is it likely that AJ would fight Haye or Fury next??? Seems to me an easy fight for the IBF then throw the lamb to the slaughter against Haye? Its a huge step up Haye after Martin.

Whatever happens, I hope Joshua takes the time to appreciate what he's got. It's all coming very easy for him.

Had a hunt round last night of twitter and stuff from Dan Raphael and Charles Martin.

Raphael saying that he had been told from the Martin side they were not even close to a deal. Martin telling a fan who voiced concerns about him being robbed in the UK, not to worry as he was able to knock his opponent out anyway. So little to indicate they are anywhere near a deal despite the noises over this side of the pond, although they clearly have had or are having some sort of discussions.

You would have to assume Eddie has a back up plan if the Martin fight does not come to fruition, looking around an awful lot of the likely contenders seem pre-occupied, Chisora,Pulev,Helenius,Thompson,Duhaupas all in fights, Teper suspended, Parker supposedly having a break after his recent fight.

Eddie has said over the last 24 hours also that the supposed Takam IBF eliminator has never even been sanctioned as there is some debate about Teper's suspension or some such like so he would sound perhaps out of the equation on that basis.

The more this plays on the more I can see either Scott, Cunningham or Stiverne or Breazeale being offered the gig.

weren't tickets meant to go on sale to fightpass members for this at 9am, have they?

I did see a tweet from Hearn saying tickets wouldn't go on sale till opponent was confirmed/announced.

I'm not that fussed about another over hyped AJ walkover if I'm honest but was thinking of making a few quid selling the tickets on to the numptys who deserve it :OhYes:

Cut Hughie Fury a £500k cheque and lets get a fight announced.
Eddie wants the names but doesnt want to pay the rates...

Well at this moment I'm not sure what a fight against Hughie Fury will accomplish. Joshua really needs a top 30 opponent.

Its sells PPVs and generates revenue.
Thats what Hearn and AJ are ultimately after...

I don't think Hughie is particularly well known outside of the boxing community.

Joshua needs to fight someone with experience at the top level. Hughie may well get there but Joshua needs to get beyond fighting fellow prospects if he wants to win a world title in the next year.

If they want to continue to poke around the lower level domestic fighters, by all means do. But Hearn knows that world title fights with Tyson Fury and Wilder is where the big bucks are.

What better way to lead into the Tyson fight than beating his cousin? If he can...

And how many saw Canelo / Khan coming? Rare fight that was announced without any rumours of it being discussed.

I think it is going to be Martin, leaving the possibility of a Joshua / Haye showdown in Wembley in the summer.

I don't think they will need to coax Tyson Fury into a fight. Joshua needs to just keep climbing the ladder, winning his fights, and their paths will cross.

Hughie Fury needs to do the same. But by the sounds of it, Peter Fury is calling out Martin for the IBF.

This would make sense as he might be under pressure to produce a summer blockbuster that is not Tony Bellew at Goodson Park
