Marcos Maidana, will he fight again?

Post by Controversial »

He hasn't fought since the Mayweather defeat back in September 2014, do you think he will return? I read an article some time ago where his trainer doubted he would fight again but other reports say he will fight this year. Maybe he's too rich now.

Sure he stated somewhere he has retired and just living on his family ranch in Argentina. If he was to come back he'd be a cruiser by the look him these days.

I think around $5 million, he is certainly a multi-millionaire and living in Argentina his money will go even further. Enough to think sod this training and fighting lark, I'd rather sit on my arse and get fat :-)

:TU: me too, he didn't strike me as the kind of person who'd need 100 million to feel rich, I hope he is content.

Yup. I really hope I read a story in twenty or thirty years time, where he's still very much solvent and living on his ranch surrounded by dozens of grandchildren, and he weighs about 300 pounds and looks happy as a pig in a yard full of poo.

Yeah he's packed it in, one of the most exiting fighters in recent years and also a seriously hard dude! Good luck to him he's earned it, and what he did to Broner gave me a Boner!

No way Wilders camp would take that fight, those over arm punches are too dangerous.

Fair play to him. Seemed to be going nowhere after Alexander schooled him..Couple of lucky breaks, especially managing to get a fight with overrated Broner. He's done very well for a limited boxer. Fight against Khan was a classic.

NO WAY. Chino's all done now and I don't blame him one bit. He never appeared to be boxing for the love of the sport to me. It seemed to me that he was boxing to survive. He struggled on the scale and was criticized for being lazy in the gym and i think that's why Garcia doesn't think he'll be back. He kicked Broner's ass and less than 5 months later gave Floyd one of his toughest fights which some had him winning. How can anyone top that? You can't. Good for him for enjoying his life now.

a real child street fighter with nothing to rich boxer with a family, i think it is a shame,as he showed how much talent he had, maidana went from being a real brawler to someone that fought floyd twice because he improved so much as a fighter i think

And Wilder being the coward he is would take it. I am surprised he is not on the next flight to South America.

I am just glad that he came in as a big underdog against Broner and Broner thought it was gonna be an easy win he had all of his celeb fan club there and they watched him get his ass kicked. It just went to show how you can build up a fake record and resume without fighting anyone and when he did his ass was kicked around the ring. And Marcos did not like that punk either. He really tried to hurt him. That is what I always liked about chino he fought dirty and took that cheap shot against a real inner city phony like Broner who walked out of the ring that night with his tail; between his legs. True bitch.

Yes sounds like we might have seen the last of him in the ring, he's not talking like someone overly keen to lace them up again. The latest I could find was an interview with him a few months ago below. Good luck to him.

“I feel very good. I am calm. This time away [from the ring] and the rest has helped me. I have still not made a decision [on whether or not I will fight again], but I’ve done everything I could in boxing,” Maidana stated during a radio interview in Argentina.
.
“My mother, my lady and my sisters do not want me to fight again. But my father asked me to do one more. I don’t know if I’m going to return and fight again… I am doing very well and right now I’m not even thinking about boxing.”
