Charles Martin v Anthony Joshua

Post by fightfan95 »

Eddie has been hinting and we publicly know that Martin wants the fight (whether the offer is realistic for Eddie to accept is another matter.) This isn't a question about whether Joshua deserves a shot or ready for the shot, the question is who would win on April 9th if this fight is made at the O2?

Hard to say as we , at least I know nothing about Martin's chin. I guessed Joshua KO 1-6.

Yeah I agree, I've only seen him against Glazkov and I can't really say anything about that... So it definitely will be interesting if it does happen. Be interested to see what the bookies give Martin.

Excellent match for both parties. Kudos to Martin if it is true that he wants that fight. Joshua is taller and longer but not by much. I think that they have one common punching bag. Good, credible move for Team Joshua that is his entry into the belt Merry go round. A bit of a no lose situation for Martin as long as he is competitive.

Tanzio,JOSHUA,DECISION,WIDE (that could be controversial)

I reserve my right to change my mind (a lot) between now and the fight, if it happens.

After 26 votes still nobody expects Martin to win this lol.
Neither do I, but that's a different story.
I haven't seen much of him yet, but he definetly got a good length and weight, I think he can be a stable rank 30 ish guy for what I see now.

He seemed a bit slow to me against Glazkov, but simply got the size advantage, so I wouldn't be surprised if he would have had a serious chance against Glazkov anyway if he didn't get injured.
Glazkov himself was quite lucky to get such a high rank as well, it wasn't like all his wins were walkovers, they were just enough to win the fights, or get away with a draw.

Fight is a step up for both

He's a good southpaw something that Joshua not faced

Very interesting fight and hats off to Martin for not trying to take an easy route with the belt if this fight comes off. Seems like a good test for both men. How will Joshua do in the late stages of a fight? How's Martin's chin? I'd make it a 60/40 fight for Joshua, assuming it's in the U.K.

Yeah, we don't know about Martin's chin, but i believe he is about the same level as Whyte. I don't think his speed/power will trouble Joshua, and Joshua will win. Probably early, i don't think his chin is a factor. If he doesn't go down, he'll battered & it gets stopped, TKO Joshua in 8.

Joshua is not KOing Martin, AJ has much too many flaws at this moment to take out Martin (who is much more skilled).

Yeah but Martin brings very little to the table in my opinion. I expect a much more polished performance from AJ too, now that the red mist will not be present. As long as he gets behind his jab, and once he's rocked him, I expect him to make short work of Martin. I honestly think this fight would be perfect, it's just that it's a world title fight. Too much baggage.

Hearn's latest Tweet is that there is no chance that Joshua's fight will be put off for the summer for Martin in Wembley. But the train is definitely picking up momentum.

Time on time again you manage to surprise me when you start talking about boxing.
Can you name me any flaw at all?

I personally think there are about 5 heavyweights that can easely handle Martin, Whyte is one of them.

Nevertheless I really like Martin, who seems to be going for the hardest route out there, respect for that!

Dude has no defense, he is all offense. I'm not sure why you aren't able to see that but maybe it's because you've never boxed before and think you know more about boxing than anyone else.

He's pretty obviously asking for what offensive flaws will stop him from KOing Martin.

I know what he's asking but what he's failing to realize is that as wild as Joshua is coming in straight lines and swinging wildly that he'll get caught rushing in and trying to throw, Joshua telegraphs his shots making it easy to avoid/duck or time with counters or feints to set up straight punches that will get in before his (Joshua's) wild shots.

Martin is better technically than Joshua in both defense and offense.

Then thats what you should have said.

Martin was picking his feet up and reaching a ton against small, limited Glazkov. The verdict is still out on him but I wouldn't say he's technically better than anyone based on his "showcase" performance.

sounds to me as though you've only seen one of his fights, and if that's the case then it's easy to see why you came to that sole conclusion.

I have only seen one of his fights. And in that fight (the only live body he's faced) he was over extended, picked up his feet, and didn't look very fast.

Perhaps you can point me to the fights he's showed such marvelous technique in? Maybe the Damon McCreary fight? Vincente Sandez?

If Joshua is 3/4 as good as many people think, he should be jumping at the opportunity to get a relatively easy entry into the top 10 that comes with a belt (worthless as it might be, IMO) for negotiating purposes.
