Peter is paying at the moment but Hughie is decent. It will pay in the end.
Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
I don't see any reason to disagree. i think Hughie has the potential to be at least as good, if not better, than Tyson. He seems so relaxed and unflappable in the ring for his age.mickey1975 wrote:Peter is paying at the moment but Hughie is decent. It will pay in the end.
Hasn't Peter Fury pulled this rubbish many times over the last couple of years?
Why do we need to be told who Hughie is 'trying' to fight anyway? Just sign them up and tell us who he's fighting after the contract is signed.
Fedosov wouldn't be a very good opponent anyway. Just bloody well fight McDermott.
Admittedly, the Fury's do have a habit of acting this way. Portraying the other party as the reason for Hughie not getting these "big" fights. I wouldn't class Fedosov as in that bracket, he's always faltered when he's stepped up in class. Yet, so has McDermott in his fights against perceived "world class" fighters like David Price. You could say that these two fighters are in and around the same level. Fedosov makes sense in terms of the rankings, but there's no point in mentioning the guy if the talks have broken down or been rejected. I think McDermott would make sense as it seems to be the test for all British upcoming heavyweights to see if they can make it past him. I would envisage that Fury out boxes McDermott quite comfortably because I don't think McDermott could enter a slogging match for the 12 rounds. Especially comparing the ages between the two, there would definitely be a gulf in conditioning, naturally. McDermott's promoter has changed sex since his last fight, its been that long, so I would say that there isn't a overwhelming willingness to fight. I think he might vacant if the challenge came his way.
It's frustrating that Hughie isn't getting these fights as I'm intrigued to how good he actually is. Obviously beating Rudenko, which the Fury's announce as a great victory in their usual propaganda style, and some other Eastern European journeyman. I would say for a 21 year old he is a special fighter considering he's had 18 fights. Think he should decimate the domestic scene before he starts going into the American arena.
Would like to see them actually get a decent opponent rather than faffing about with top 10 ranked fighters. Obviously the money is too low or there are other variables to this, as who wouldn't want to fight a 21 year old. Fedosov has been in with Jennings, I can't see him ducking plucky new comers such as Hughie very much untried at the top level consistently.

Set a date and venue and stop messing around blathering on about Fedosov ducking Hughie!HEAVYWEIGHT JOHN MCDERMOTT (Holder) v HUGHIE FURY
The above contest to be promoted by Mick Hennessy, will take place on a date and at a venue as yet to be advised.

Fedosov has been a pro for over 12 years and what is his best result?Larrylefthook wrote:You lick Wilders arse despite his dogshit opposition but you think Fedosov isn't a good opponent for a 21 year old prospect
Fedosov is a nobody that they'll try to sell as world class. I'm not interested in that garbage.
Wilder has one of the strongest records in the division. His opposition is better than a lot of people say.

Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
If Hughie is the second coming of Larry Holmes as someone stated earlier what does he gain beating McDermott? (three years inactive, 36, lost every time he's stepped up a class . . . well he did beat Tyson in the first fight)Horse wrote:Set a date and venue and stop messing around blathering on about Fedosov ducking Hughie!

Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
Wilders opposition up until Stiverne was total horse-schit (pardon the pun) and it hasn't been much better afterwards. To say he's being carefully handled is an understatement. That being said I can't help but quite like him. crude but powerfull and seems a decent enough guy behind all the usual bollock talk. We'll see how he handles Povetkin. Interesting fight.Horse wrote:Fedosov has been a pro for over 12 years and what is his best result?Larrylefthook wrote:You lick Wilders arse despite his dogshit opposition but you think Fedosov isn't a good opponent for a 21 year old prospect

Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
Duhaupas and Szpilka would both have a very good chance of beating Stiverne, so I don't really see them as a step down from him.Stuarty30 wrote:Wilders opposition up until Stiverne was total horse-schit (pardon the pun) and it hasn't been much better afterwards. Mcdermott hasn't fought in years, and in his last few outings looked pretty awful so fighting him would be a waste of time.Horse wrote:He gains the English title and gets the best win of his career.Andy Paints Brian wrote:If Hughie is the second coming of Larry Holmes as someone stated earlier what does he gain beating McDermott? if you are going for a domestic opponent im certain Sam Sexton would answer the call. even Hughie vs Sprott or Skelton is acceptable as he isn't powerful enough to give them further brian damage. I'd rather see Audley in the ring with Hughie than big John after a 3 year lay off.

If you subscribe to his dad's nonsense he's already 'world class' so surely the English title is a step backwards?Horse wrote:He gains the English title and gets the best win of his career.

Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
I would agree with this. Molina was a step back but the frenchman and the pole were very much on Stiverne's sort of level. I expect Szpilka will be a top 10ish sort of guy for a while, an old fashioned gate-keeper opponent. Duhaupas a little behind like an entry opponent for top 20-30 contests.Horse wrote:Duhaupas and Szpilka would both have a very good chance of beating Stiverne, so I don't really see them as a step down from him.Stuarty30 wrote:Wilders opposition up until Stiverne was total horse-schit (pardon the pun) and it hasn't been much better afterwards. He beat Skelton easily in his last fight and didn't look bad.Yes We Can wrote:Mcdermott hasn't fought in years, and in his last few outings looked pretty awful so fighting him would be a waste of time.
Sexton's done nothing since beating Rogan over 6 years ago.Yes We Can wrote:if you are going for a domestic opponent im certain Sam Sexton would answer the call. even Hughie vs Sprott or Skelton is acceptable as he isn't powerful enough to give them further brian damage. How is Skelton better than McDermott, when he lost widely to McDermott and got blasted out by Joshua in his only fight since then 18 months ago?
Audley and Sprott would be good opponents, but Hughie's already got the McDermott fight signed up, they just need to name a place and date. Why don't they hurry up and do it?
Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
As I said I quite like the guy but I don't really rate Stiverne much but that was his first proper test. He is being very carefully handled and his record doesn't read that of a WBC champion IMO. Got to be honest and admit I'd never even heard of Duhaupas until Wilder. Spilka put up a plucky performance and I had him ahead when he got k'od. He could certainly come again.Horse wrote:Duhaupas and Szpilka would both have a very good chance of beating Stiverne, so I don't really see them as a step down from him.Stuarty30 wrote:Wilders opposition up until Stiverne was total horse-schit (pardon the pun) and it hasn't been much better afterwards. Are you serious? Harrison has retired stating he has neurological issues, Sprott has no right being in a ring again, he's on three straight stoppage defeats (he's also been stopped in the first FOUR times in the last two years)Horse wrote:Audley and Sprott would be good opponents

Either would be Hughie's best opponent to date.Andy Paints Brian wrote:Are you serious? Harrison has retired stating he has neurological issues, Sprott has no right being in a ring again, he's on three straight stoppage defeats (he's also been stopped in the first FOUR times in the last two years)
With Hughie's lack of power, Harrison could be a real threat.

Feck it, what bout Danny Williams too then? Maybe wheel out Julius Francis?Horse wrote:Either would be Hughie's best opponent to date.Andy Paints Brian wrote:Are you serious? No, they lack credibility.Stuarty30 wrote:Feck it, what bout Danny Williams too then? Maybe wheel out Julius Francis?
Although they'd both be better than the majority of Hughie's opponents so far.
