Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
I think people seriously overlook Hughie and want to say, "Who has he fought?" as though it is proof that he's not Commonwealth or International level. People got to understand, he's been Tyson's chief sparring partner from the beginning and he's worked with Eddie Chambers, Steve Cunningham, and many others of the world class level. His style is more slick, and elusive and being 6'6" plus and just as fast as Tyson I think he's better than people realize. Alot will point out he's grounded out decisions against journeymen and people aren't fans of guys who are pure scientific boxers, but they have to understand (too) that Hughie seems to have a hard time getting opponents so he needs as many rounds in as possible. Peter doesn't want him to pull the trigger in fights, but rather utilize defense.
Myself personally, I would like to see Hughie fight Anthony Joshua. However, if rounds is the name of the game and getting to the world title (bypassing the British Empire altogether) I would like to see him fight Johahn Duhapas that Wilder defended against. Unlike most that Hughie has fought, Duhapas is nearly the same size and unlike most he comes forward and throws shots. His work rate may not be all that great, but he's a lively threat. If Hughie could decision a man like that, who has recently fought for the world title, then Hughie would be just a few steps away from getting his own shot.
I suspect, though, we could be seeing Hughie in line for the Interim or Regular WBA title, or the IBF strap.

How does Sprott keep getting work, a win over him these days does absolutely nothing to advance a fighters career? I thought (hoped) the one round loss to Granat would surely mark the end of his days as 'Euro Trialhorse'wesshaw1985 wrote:Christian Hammer vs. Michael Sprott is lined up...

I don't want to hear the hype until there is something on his record to back it up.HomicideHenry wrote:I think people seriously overlook Hughie and want to say, "Who has he fought?" as though it is proof that he's not Commonwealth or International level.
He's English title level until he proves otherwise.

Waste of time, he doesn't have the size, maturity, physical strength or power to deter Joshua (he never will either) he'd be overpowered inside three.HomicideHenry wrote:I would like to see Hughie fight Anthony Joshua.

THE SIZE? Hughie is 6'6" and 235 pounds.Andy Paints Brian wrote:Waste of time, he doesn't have the size, maturity, physical strength or power to deter Joshua (he never will either) he'd be overpowered inside three.HomicideHenry wrote:I would like to see Hughie fight Anthony Joshua.
MATURITY? The man has been Tyson's sparring partner from the beginning. If anyone can be credited to Tyson's success (outside of Peter Fury) it is Hughie because he's ALWAYS been on call to spar and train alongside his cousin.
STRENGTH AND POWER? This is boxing. This isn't a toughman contest. This isn't about who can lift the most weights. This isn't about who hits harder. This is about SKILLS, TIMING, SPEED, PRECISION.
What the eff all do you know about it
Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
I must know eff all too ,cos I totally agree with andy paints , he's been protected more than most , get it on with somebody like Whyte, give him a stand off boxing lesson and we'll all be impressed , until that happens Horse has it spot on , british level until proven otherwise .
Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
I'd definitely like to see these too, but I don't know what you'd have to do to draw Chisora into a fight. Unless you're guna pay him stupid money, he'll resume on his own delirious path!wesshaw1985 wrote:how does Hughie do today against Christian Hammer and Dereck Chisora?
Does he simply follow Tysons routes to victory?

Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
And like I was right with Tyson from the beginning, I will be proved right again about Hughie. Because you all are BLINDED with what records say, rather than what records dont say. You are ignorant to the fact that the Fury's are 24/7 all about boxing and staying sharp, always ready for fights, while most are part timers. You are also ignorant to the fact that at 18 years old this kid was working with the world class fighters, and now at age 21 he's really starting to branch out. A man doesn't have to beat this man or that man domestically to bypass the entire level. I've seen it too many times in history where men fought relative nobodies for a large portion of their career, only to win a world title when least expected (JCC comes to mind) and be alot greater than people realize.rd350lc wrote:I must know eff all too ,cos I totally agree with andy paints , he's been protected more than most , get it on with somebody like Whyte, give him a stand off boxing lesson and we'll all be impressed , until that happens Horse has it spot on , british level until proven otherwise .
But we'll agree to disagree, though I wish I had a nickel for every naysayer I have met who said the Fury's were worthless, only to keep on winning and making upsets.

Size: It was only a couple of fights ago he was barely 217lbs (this is probably his natural weight) fitness guru Peter has bulked him up.HomicideHenry wrote:THE SIZE? Hughie is 6'6" and 235 pounds.

Maturity: Sparring with your brother and real fight hardly equate to the same thing, I'm pretty sure that will count for nothing when he gets hit by Joshua.
Strength and power: So ever top fighter relies entirely on 'SKILLS, TIMING, SPEED, PRECISION' physical strength and punch power are not a factor? You need to do a bit of research and see how many fighters with superior skills have been battered by stronger blokes who hit harder.
F*cking Danny Hughes was walking through Hughies slaps and cuffs and forcing him back, what in God's name will Joshua do to him.

No you won't, he will get battered the first time he steps anywhere near 'world class' he's only got away with all his slick, arms down, cuffy, slappy nonsense because he's been in with donkeys.HomicideHenry wrote:I will be proved right again about Hughie

I will PERSONALLY wire you money, a hundred dollars, if I am wrong. Wanna take that bet?

I was happy to say I was wrong about his cousin winning against Klit in the worst world title fight I have ever seen , do I qualify for hundreds of dollars for that too ?

Someone has sent me a PM saying that this Henry bloke has some weird Gypsy fetish and as a consequence his perspective about Gypsy/Traveller fighters is somewhat distorted.

'No namer' or not he holds a version of the world title, winning this gives Joshua some clout in negotiations etc IF he should meet Tyson in the futureHomicideHenry wrote:Just like Joshua will pick up a nonsensical title against a complete no namer like Charles Martin.

Re: Who is Hughie Fury boxing?
Where exactly are they today? Gary has gone missing and Tom is too busy in the jolly knight boozer down Rochester. The 8 man tournament is not a bad idea but with the names mentioned you already know who the final two will be and any promoter would keep them apart until then. Might as well get Fury and Whyte on now...Crease wrote:That's debatable, considering that both men have beaten unranked eastern Europeans to get them were they are today. Look at their records if you don't believe me.jaymitch81 wrote:Tom Dallas and Gary Cornish are just as bad as the unranked eastern europeans you are on about.
What it badly needed in the British Heavyweight scene is for the moderately decent fighters (like Dallas, Cornish & Sexton) to start fighting each other, and let's see just who exactly deserves the boost upward. I'd probably throw Hughie Fury & Dillian White in there was well and maybe 3 others... And try to make some sort of 8 man knockout tournament for it, and the winner gets a lucrative stadium fight against David Haye or Anthony Joshua.
Until these British-level fighters meet each other, we'll never truly know whose the best of them (not including AJ or The Hayemaker)
