Credit to all the arm chair promoters and arm chair in the know merchants who kept saying 'nahhhhh it won't be Martin for April 9th!'

I'm very impressed with wesshaws crystal ball, he predicted this and put a poll on the 25th December.

Was always going to be Martin. That's why the IBF stripped Fury.

AJ will stop Martin. No doubts about it. Didn't expect this to be announced but I'm glad it has been. Hopefully it's a good undercard and a good night of boxing.

I'm a fan of AJ but can't really argue with that. Regardless of who's got the other belts everybody knows Fury is the man. The rest are just belt holders and nothing more.

This sets up a huge Joshua /Fury fight within the next 12 months or so. I don't see why it wouldn't happen, I genuinely don't think Joshua (or Hearn) would have any fear of facing Fury at all. It's big punchers they'll be more wary of.

I wouldn't be surprised if he fights Fury. It makes sense financially. Don't think AJ is ready as things stand but if/when he beats Martin and gets a couple of decent defences in then he'll be in a better position.

This is very good for boxing in the UK. This is a good time for us. I'll definitely be going to this. Does anybody have an idea when the tickets will be out?

Absolutely, thing is, Joshua probably made more fighting Whyte than Fury did fighting Klitschko. That's why Josua is getting the rankings and early title shot. No more than a title holder, Fury is the champ. If both can stay unbeaten and providing Joshua uses his title correctly ( as in learns fast, whilst on the job with his defences ) then Fury - Joshua next year sometime will make them an absolute fortune.

Be serious, Boxerbeetle.

Hearn will have a lot of fear of Fury, as Fury will probably win.

If you think Joshua will win, then fine, but to suggest that Hearn thinks Fury will be an easy win for Joshua is simply daft.

I've already said I never joke about boxing, so I am being serious. I'm not saying they will view it as an easy win, simply that they will have no fear of facing Fury. They'll have fear of punchers like Povetkin, Haye or Wilder who could potentially derail Joshua with one punch, but there's little chance of Fury doing that.

Lovely work by Eddie, not so sure about Joshua though, think it might be a bit too early.

Povetkin - 71% KO rate.
Fury - 72% KO rate.

I don't think Povetkin hits much harder than Fury, if at all.

Fury would have a very good chance of stopping Joshua if they fought.

Povetkin definitely hits harder than Fury, it's not even close.

Fury's style isn't about power punching.

He holds back on his power normally. He's got plenty in reserve.

Agree. Povetkin has fought at a higher level than Fury for a while now and has the better CV when it comes to opponents faced.

Makes sense for Hearn and AJ.

Get a World Title (I can't see Martin winning), keep the casual fan money rolling in and have reason (to the aforementioned casual fan) to say 'I'm a World Champ, I don't need to fight Fury or Haye or anyone dangerous'.

Legit wins all round for Hearn and AJ.
