Josh make easy work of martin

Post by Chepppaaa »

people out here look at me for answer, because i tend to always predict everything right.

well, martin is super overrated, a chubby tall guy with no footwork.

not only will josh destroy him, but easily, martin wont even win a minute of a round.

look for wilder, ortiz, joshua getting it on.

Joshua is tough and is favored without question and deservedly so. However, Dylan White gave Joshua enough trouble for me to think that Martin could be competitive and that Joshua is not by any means indestructible. Joshua can be hit. It may be easy but it is not a slam dunk by any means.

Is it because English is the second (or third) language of so many posters here?

I asked this before, but I didn't get an answer in that particular thread. So, I will ask again here because I am curious and I know Joshua has a lot of supporters..

What do we know about AJ's beard? Has he taken a big shot from a good puncher yet?

In all honesty, I have not seen a lot of him yet, so I am just posing the question as opposed to taking a shot at him (which I don't do anyway). I just think it's interesting because many here are convinced that he will destroy Martin, and he very well might. But, I would think that it's very hard to know how a guy will do against the top guys without having an answer to this extremely fundamental question...

In any event, I am greatly looking forward to the fight. I love it when top guys get in there instead of trying to maneuver their way around danger as much as they can in pursuit of the money.

There is an answer, he got clipped hard in his last fight by Dillian Whyte and was rocked but recovered fairly quickly and went on to stop Whyte brutally a few rounds later. Some feel like Whyte himself is untested, and he is to a degree, but there are others such as me who feel that Whyte knew what he was doing in there, had a decent dig from what we could see, and may well go on to be a top 10-15 guy in the division.

Anyway most of Joshua's fights are on YouTube.

Joshua aint been in a proper scrap yet, whyte put up a bit of resistence but only really caught him with one shot, someone with size and good feet to give him angles will show us more, is that Charles martin ?

Thanks for the response. This fight is exactly the kind of fight that ideally would happen far more often. We will undoubtedly know more about both guys after.

Yes sir, I think it would have to be considered a pretty big step up for BOTH guys.

Just look at the second round between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte indeed, that was the only moment ever Joshua seemed to be in trouble.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3QqaDIgQhw Around 9:10 till 9:30 (2nd round 1:20 - 1:00), something like that. That's the moment ever Anthony Joshua has been in problems.

Also, please take a look at the speed of the fighters and now try to find any Martin fight or even short moments of his fights where the hits go as fast as this.
People in the UK expect to see just another Gary Cornish because of this.

Also, you can compare:
Anthony Joshua vs Raphael Zumbrano Love and
Charles Martin vs Raphael Zumbrano Love

6'5" is tall for the average guy but not for this division, anymore.
he's about average for a titlist. he weighs in 230's/240's and is more muscular
than average and doesn't have a bigger waist than average, so the chubby
part is from left field, and the part about him having no footwork for a heavy
is also out of left field. this is an almost blind assessment of martin.
did martin or glakov deserve the ibf shot? no. martin was just chosen
as glazkov's opponent, and despite the glazkov injury martin was
starting to dominate him before that, anyway, so i see it as a legit win.
martin is a legit top 15 guy without enough tough opponents to tell
where he really belongs in the top 15. i see enough good in him to
think he probably is top 10 and maybe at some point a top 5. joshua
seems to have more potential, but he is in the same situation as martin,
only without a title. i would pick joshua but i wouldn't bet my house on it.
