Frank Buglioni
It's just been announced that Frank has left the Warrens/Queensbury promotions.
It seems a strange move considering the opportunities he had. I can't see Eddie getting him a world title shot and domestically Light Heavy isn't the most attractive division. He may decide to stay at Supper Middle and fight Fielding, Paul Smith etc or possibly go to Hennessy.
Any thoughts?

Re: Frank Buglioni
He's been sparring at Tony Sims', so presume he'll be signing with Hearn before long. Similar scenario to Frankie Gavin from the outside. Looks an ideal opponent for a rebuilding Rocky Fielding back at Super Middle.

Re: Frank Buglioni
I wondered why he was on twitter earlier praising Wazza, all makes sense now,i thought he had a good thing going,Camp has plenty SMWs so surely he were to sign with Eddie he'd be moving up to LHW,no doubt to chase Burton/Shinkwin winner
If he is planning on moving up,if he'd stayed with Bunny a fight with Langford would be a cracking scrap

Nowhere near as big a seller as people make out.
Re: Frank Buglioni
Yea 900-1000 or maybe a bit more with a good opponent but londons answer to ricky hatton he most definitely is not.mickey1975 wrote:Nowhere near as big a seller as people make out.

Re: Frank Buglioni
Decent, that's about it.
Re: Frank Buglioni
I read a statement earlier which had matchroom saying they had no interest in signing him. He's southern area level at best. How he got a world title shot is a damn mystery.

Never rated him to be honest, I could never see what all the fuss was about. He has the model looks and seems a nice fella but no way near world class. A modern day Gary Stretch.

Very disloyal.
Francis guided him and got him further than his ability should have allowed. He seems likeable enough, but I've gone right off him now.
Does he think he'll go one better with Edward?
No chance.
Thats North of the river for you.

Re: Frank Buglioni
The fact that he makes Paul Smith look like a deserving world title challenger says it all really. He needs to quit boxing and beg for his old job back as i'm sure he had a good job.

All ingrate's that side of the water mate
Re: Frank Buglioni
Enjoyed his style and watching him fight, but I've said since early in his career he is probably not going to progress beyond domestic level.
Of course he went and proved me wrong by getting a world title shot
But I maintain, the guy is domestic class at best. I'm not sure anyone will be able to do any more with him than Frank did

Re: Frank Buglioni
He should be looking at the Burton/Shinkwin winner for the British
Unless he thinks that getting beat convincly a world champion makes him world class (like a lot of other british fighters lately)
If he signs with Eddie he will likely end up getting fed to Clev in the welshman's comeback fight.

Re: Frank Buglioni
Ultimately it's his career and if their promotional relationship had ran it's course, then it's up to him to find another outlet.
He's not world class and I don't think he'd tell you that either. But I suppose he can still fill a role at British level.
With a reasonable London following, he could probably add a bit of value to AJ cards in the city - especially now Kevin Mitchell has retired.
If he has moved up, I think Clev would be way too much for him right now. The Welshman is several leagues above Frank in every respect and likely always will be. Rocky Fielding, Martin Murray, Paul Smith at 168 or slightly above would be more suitable. But I'd not peg him the favourite against any of those guys unless he's made huge improvements and developed his defence.

He was a surveyor or something for his Dad's business was he not? Shouldn't be too hard to get his job back....Larrylefthook wrote:The fact that he makes Paul Smith look like a deserving world title challenger says it all really. Re: Frank Buglioni
Seen him take some harsh stick on the internet, very undeserved as well, you ask someone like robin deakin if he wants to fight for a world title and he would take it as well, just because frank sells a ticket does that mean he should turn down a world title shot just because he "doesn't deserve" or his british level at best??
Re: Frank Buglioni
I think most thought it was an undeserved shot after drawing with Lee Markham but understood he would take it. Most on here were complimentary about how hard he tried and the pride he showed by going the distance.higgs88 wrote:Seen him take some harsh stick on the internet, very undeserved as well, you ask someone like robin deakin if he wants to fight for a world title and he would take it as well, just because frank sells a ticket does that mean he should turn down a world title shot just because he "doesn't deserve" or his british level at best??

Re: Frank Buglioni
Even Markham came out & said he didn't blame Buglioni for pulling out of their rematch to take the title fight. Buglioni is obviously a long way below world class, but he's entertaining & I enjoy watching him fight.palooka wrote:I think most thought it was an undeserved shot after drawing with Lee Markham but understood he would take it. Surprised he's left Frank.
FW did a great job with Buglioni. World title shot, always the A fighter and mostly top of the bill.
He won't get that anywhere else.
