COTTO vs JMM is in the works, serious works.
Looks like this fight might come off but I'm not sure what weight it will happen at, I have to admit that I'm surprised that Miguel is going this route if all is true unless it's just a tune up bout while waiting on the air between Canelo vs Golovkin to clear.
It's Freddie Roach's idea so do not blame Cotto for this.

I got no problem with it if it happens. I assume it would be at Jr. Middleweight, I don't really see Cotto going much lower than that.

Why you going straight to "blame"?Undefeated49-0 wrote:Looks like this fight might come off but I'm not sure what weight it will happen at, I have to admit that I'm surprised that Miguel is going this route if all is true unless it's just a tune up bout while waiting on the air between Canelo vs Golovkin to clear.

Why would you come at me as though I'm looking to point the finger? I'm just stating what I know, why don't you look into it to see who's idea it really is if you think I'm just playing the blame game.squiggy wrote:Why you going straight to "blame"?Undefeated49-0 wrote:Looks like this fight might come off but I'm not sure what weight it will happen at, I have to admit that I'm surprised that Miguel is going this route if all is true unless it's just a tune up bout while waiting on the air between Canelo vs Golovkin to clear.

marquez has never weighed more than 144, and that was in a welter bout v bradley. The Revival wrote:I got no problem with it if it happens. I assume it would be at Jr. Middleweight, I don't really see Cotto going much lower than that.
next bout back down to 141 v alvarado. he's never even been a full welter, so why
would he fight full light middle? it looked like before his last injury he was angling
for kell brook, and he even mentioned brook when asked about possible opponents.
he seemed focused on winning a welter strap. cotto doesn't even have a strap.
what about this fight would interest marquez? lots of names get thrown out there
as diversions and conversation pieces all the time but even at a 150lb catch this
still doesn't make sense from marquez's perspective, as he has turned down bigger
money and other big names. he won titles at 125, 130, 135, and was handed one
at 140, got his win over manny, and really just wanted one at 147 to complete the set.

Probably because you use the word "blame" very clearly in your first post. Just a hunch though.Undefeated49-0 wrote:Why would you come at me as though I'm looking to point the finger? Marquez needs Cotto more than Cotto needs Marquez. No way he's gonna come back down to Welterweight and drain himself for Juan Manuel Marquez who has been inactive for a long stretch now, and isn't the draw that Cotto is anyway. Both big name fighters to be sure, but Cotto is the bigger star here, and he'd be calling the shots more in the negotiation I'd figure.sucracristo wrote:marquez has never weighed more than 144, and that was in a welter bout v bradley. The Revival wrote:I got no problem with it if it happens. Yeah but all I did was to suggest people not blame Cotto, I never said who they should blame.punchoutsb wrote:Probably because you use the word "blame" very clearly in your first post. Just a hunch though.

Re: COTTO vs JMM is in the works, serious works.
You guys are forgetting this by all means might be Cotto's last ever fight. He only had a three-fight contract with Roc Nation. He had a fight against Geale and Canelo. This will probably end his contract. I have serious doubts Cotto moves down and takes on a high-risk, low reward fight against Trout, Lara, or either Charlo. This is his last fight. Mexico vs. Puerto Rico and a definite PPV fight.

And all he asked is why would anyone be "blamed" for this fight. We get it, you still hate Freddie.Undefeated49-0 wrote:Yeah but all I did was to suggest people not blame Cotto, I never said who they should blame.punchoutsb wrote:Probably because you use the word "blame" very clearly in your first post. I guess this could be a pretty big fight, given the stature of the two fighters.
However, it's pretty hard to see how Marquez could stand a chance of winning, Cotto is a much much bigger man. Even at 147, if indeed it was there, Cotto would have significant advantages.

Re: COTTO vs JMM is in the works, serious works.
More boxing junk. I mean what relevance does this have and who cares. When Cotto paraded around the MW title he wanted nothing to do with GGG and should have been stripped of the belt long before fighting Saul. That was a joke.
Re: COTTO vs JMM is in the works, serious works.
This is Cottos chance to be the first to stop a 40/year old inactive fighter like Marquez, who's smaller, slower and I personally believe Roach is more than likely pushing for this fight based on the nature Marquez knocked out Pacquioa and wouldn't give the rematch. This is a revenge story because there's no way Marquez wins this fight.
Re: COTTO vs JMM is in the works, serious works.
Never underestimate the power of steroids. We saw how a juiced up JMM could suddenly be able to knock out Manny after years of trying. We also saw an aging Cotto this past year who had nothing but a jab. His hooks from both sides were weak as we've ever seen. This might be a good fight to watch if it's not PPV. If I were a billionaire, I wouldn't buy this fight even if there were presidential debates on every other channel.
Re: COTTO vs JMM is in the works, serious works.
I'd watch it but wouldn't pay for it. Could be entertaining but is ultimately a meaningless fight.

Hardly racist stuff, and even if it borders----so what? It's boxing. Years ago, real boxing fans wouldn't blink an eye at that talk.
And BTW, didn't Roach's own fighter, the esteemed Pacquiao, just "slur" homosexuals by calling them "worse than animals."
That's what I love about boxing. People speak their minds. Too bad Pac felt obliged to apologize on the advice of his agent.

So you're saying that just because you'd be ok with someone calling you a Sp*c, N*gg*r or other derogatory name or discriminating against you because you are g*y that you'd be ok with it just because you are a Boxer?SenorPipino wrote:Some of you guys get so bent out of shape over a little trash talking.

Roach is a piece of sh*t. Why do you have a problem with me saying that if you went on your tirade?

Because it's a mismatch. At 147 it would be a mismatch, at 154 it's ludicrous.Chepppaaa wrote:i like the match up, 2 legendary names, who not

both on their way out. not an important
fight for boxing, not a bad matchup either.
