It looks like Ustinov has been offered it according to his promoter.

Excellent match, if it happens.

Yes, very good opponent if it happens.

Hopefully McDermott would be next after that.

Yeah, no complaints here - he's a big bastard, and judging by his record, durable.

Could get tricky for Haye if he doesn't blast him out of there early.

Another website says Ustinov's manager is looking for an Ortiz fight, presumably after Ortiz beats thomson

definitely an interesting fight. i reckon hughie fury would grind out a victory, ustinov will be durable no doubt, but i think fury is only going to improve and would notch another win vs utstinov.

and with regards to ustinov's manager looking for the ortiz fight after thompson fight, ortiz beats him for sure

Ustinov had chance to fight Ortiz next month but "wasn't contactable" when the WBA tried to speak to him about their mandated fight. Fury fight seems more his level. Great fight for Hughie if rumour is true, find out exactly where he is at in his career. Chance to grab a decent ranking against ordinary fighter as well (Ustinov is number 5 with WBA and WBO).

No announcement today apparently...

If it is Ustinov then that's a massive step up in quality. I would worry that Fury doesn't have the power to stop Ustinov just walking right through his punches but if he can outbox him for 12 rounds then that's mightily impressive for a 21-year-old.

Brave matchmaking for sure, and if he does pull it off, he'll learn a huge amount from the fight.

Be interesting to watch the trajectory of his career, he may well sit down on his punches more as he gets older and stronger.

It is Ustinov, and it appears that it has fallen through again. From twitter;

"We now offered Ustinov ranked no 5 WBA WBO. & contracts gone out. allegedly trying to make this happen" awaiting news from Frank".

isn't Pulev fighting Chisora next for the European Title?
In house fight for the Sauerlands?

You're right, I'd forgotten about that!! :salut:
its a strange one, Top 10 opponent but co-main to Blackwell/Eubank, so can't see any mega-money being spent on a name.
It will be an interesting announcement...

Can we just assume that he's going to fight a very low level journeyman and be done with it?

May as well, that's the most likely outcome.

Ustinov is mandatory for the WBA of Ortiz so will wait till Ortiz is stripped of the title i'd guess. He'll probably fight a Mark De Mori type fighter
