I don't understand why anyone would be "offended" by anyone's personal opinion, and make more out of it than what it is. It is as if the "offended" persons are claiming that words and thoughts and feelings are as lethal as knives, guns, and threats of violence. What I also don't understand is why Pacquiao stepped back and apologized for his beliefs. The burden of proof, I maintain, is on the G&L&T communities to supply the scientific, genetic proof of concept that the act of having sex isn't a choice. There are many in the G&L&T communities who will be honest enough to admit that there is no evidence and that it is a cultural thing. What society finds "acceptable" generally leads to an explosion in numbers.

Then again people will say I am biased because I, too, am a Christian like Pacquiao. However, nobody ever wants to ask the right questions when discussing matters with Christians. The appropriate question to ask is "Is homosexuality forgivable?" and "Does God love homosexuals?" and the answer to both is yes. WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM, says the Bible. It does NOT say "WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM AND FOLLOWS ALL THE LAWS AND ORDINANCES AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS..." because that is not the nature of God, because that is NOT love.

God cannot go against the very laws that God creates, but God loves us that we have that freedom to choose. That is why when God said to the adulteress woman "Go and sin no more" because God Himself cannot condone sin or anything that goes against the laws that He Himself instituted. Else the Bible would have read "Go and try not to sin no more."

If I got on a microphone and announced it to 40,000 people at a football game through the tannoy system, then I'm broadcasting it loud and clear and should expect feedback, not all of it agreeing with me either.

But this is an entirely different level. Pacquiao is one, if not the biggest icon of an entire nation and world-wide famous - and responsibility comes with that, because regardless what your private feelings are, there could be a raging psycho who takes what you say too literally and then goes and tries to knife a bunch of gay people in a gay bar. Or bomb the place - just because of something he has said. He's also basically ostracising people from his faith due to their sexuality.

Sexuality, race and religion are 3 entirely different things so I don't really get the comparison. If he changed 'Gay' to 'African' it would be significantly more offensive, are you trying to say the level of outrage should be the same and that there is no difference?

I can understand the position that organised religions take in their opposition to homosexuality, as it seems to me that Religions such as Christianity or Islam have a sort of core belief that the very point of human existence is to reproduce.

What Pacquiao, an uneducated religious fruitcake, said is hardly 'news', no should come as a surprise to companies like Nike. Surely most people realize that equality for LGBT & the church aren't exactly compatible values? Pacquaio's comments to me aren't anymore or any less offensive than, say, if you are good you go to heaven and if you're bad you perish for eternity in a hell fire. Yes they are different Ricky, but my point was that they are all specific groups - Singling out a specific group in society and labelling them 'worse than animal's regardless what that group is, is why Pacquiao is getting roasted.

He could say all people that either blue eyed, left-handed or over 5'10 are worse than animals too. It's singling people out who are born a particular way and that's the point of the furore. A person can't help their sexuality or the colour of their skin.
