Anthony Joshua gets IBF shot at Charles Martin
Anthony Joshua gets IBF shot at Charles Martin
After only 15 domestic fights, only 2 of which were scheduled for 12.
Is this the case of a guy skipping the Que due having the backing of a major network (Sky)?
The ABC's truly are farcical to the point that world titles are essentialy worthless. Everyone knows these 2 ain't no "champions". Tyson Fury is the Heavyweight Champion and that belt belongs to him.

Well, it's a step in the right direction.
Re: Anthony Joshua gets IBF shot at Charles Martin
Do you know anyone (even one person) who considers Martin the World's Heavyweight Champion? We are all aware of the circumstances. The only thing that matters is that this is a good step up fight for both fighters.Ricky_ wrote:After only 15 domestic fights, only 2 of which were scheduled for 12.

Re: Anthony Joshua gets IBF shot at Charles Martin
It's not so much the match-up i have issues with, it's the continued degradation of World Titles, it's a complete farce. I think Joshua is a good talent but there's nothing worse than manufactured hype-job's in boxing and the places hypejobs get to ahead of other guys in the sport cutting their cloth. I can't wait 'til Joshua gets flattened to be honest, just to see the faces of the rats driving his gravy train.Tanzio wrote:Do you know anyone (even one person) who considers Martin the World's Heavyweight Champion? I think it's a very short term situation. In the grand scheme of things, the cream will eventually rise to the top. A unification will no doubt be in the not so distant future. I think we have to look post Fury/Klitchko, Wilder/Povetkin, Martin/Joshua to rate the standard of the situation.Ricky_ wrote:It's not so much the match-up i have issues with, it's the continued degradation of World Titles, it's a complete farce. While I agree with you overall, I think the bolded bit is wishful thinking. I think the titles will remained fractured for some time now.Rob3_142 wrote:I think it's a very short term situation. I don't get where you are coming from with the Joshua hate. He is taking a legit challenge for his 16th fight. Why not appreciate it?Ricky_ wrote:It's not so much the match-up i have issues with, it's the continued degradation of World Titles, it's a complete farce. David Price had a better resume than Joshua after 15 fights and never came close to a title shot. He was promoted by a transvestite though and not Sky. Like i said i don't mind Joshua vs Martin but a world title fight... and you just know that Joshua wins this then fights a few tomato cans in the meantime, like Wilder is doing. It feels like the HW scene is getting more exciting but it stinks more than ever tbh.
Re: Anthony Joshua gets IBF shot at Charles Martin
Yeah of course, but find a boxing fan that doesn't wish the same thing. I'd like to believe after the aforementioned fights have happened, Fury has already started to pave the way for a unification fight with Wilder (providing that Fury and Wilder come through their fights). I feel the IBF will continue to be branded as a paper title as the IBF rankings look really unusual (Teper at 3 [banned], Glazkov at 7 [injured], Cunningham at 8 [cruiserweight], Helenius/Chisora/Ustinov 12-14 [all European level fighters at best]).punchoutsb wrote:While I agree with you overall, I think the bolded bit is wishful thinking. If Joshua wins it, then we can hope for a long spell, long enough to get in on the act with the other organisations. Well maybe not that long as he's already on the radar of the WBC and WBO.

I disagree. I think that the HW div is looking good.Ricky_ wrote:Tanzio wrote: I don't get where you are coming from with the Joshua hate. He is taking a legit challenge for his 16th fight. Why not appreciate it?

As far as David Price is concerned, he was mishandled.

What makes David Price's resume better than Joshua's after 15 fights?Ricky_ wrote:Tanzio wrote: I don't get where you are coming from with the Joshua hate. He is taking a legit challenge for his 16th fight. Why not appreciate it?

You can't degrade boxing world titles anymore than they've already been degraded.Ricky_ wrote:It's not so much the match-up i have issues with, it's the continued degradation of World Titles, it's a complete farce. Forget the IBF trinket, it's meaningless.
This is a good step-up fight for Joshua & a good contest for Martin too.
It will go some way to determining what they've got to offer & if either are ready for the ultimate step, a shot at a real HW champion of the world.

Do people honestly see Tyson Fury being a beat allcomers ,invincible ,long reigning champion ? 'cos I frigging don't and think his titles will be gone within 3 fights , as said nothing wrong with this fight ,world title or not .Syntax Error wrote:You can't degrade boxing world titles anymore than they've already been degraded.Ricky_ wrote:It's not so much the match-up i have issues with, it's the continued degradation of World Titles, it's a complete farce. Well, obviously if Joshua won his fight and Fury won his fight then there would be a huge fight looming to unify the belts and imagine how big it would be in the UK! Joshua did say last year that he was not quite ready for Fury but the money and event would be huge I would think that he would have to take it. Fury is game because he is tough and he isn't as easy to get out as people think.
