Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
i'll be there but if i wasnt i'd b watching it on a stream.
I have this 'add-on' for my amazon fire box https://twitter.com/MBOX_HD_IPTV
http://mbox-addon.com/home.php
I've paid £160 for the full 12 months package, all sports are HD quality streams. It's not quite pixel perfect like direct HD TV on Sky but it is very good and better than SD TV.
I have nothing to do with them by the way, my mate put me on to them as loads of links on kodi kept crashing.
The other add on is HD Streaming which gives really good quality for sports too thats a paid subscription too.

Must admit I was expecting a more positive set of responses to this poll - only 45% are currently buying it. Personally this is a fight I would not want to risk missing so wouldn't consider streaming it.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
Yes. I've been waiting for this fight for five years.
I've fancied Frampton for a long time but having watched this build up I have this niggling feeling that Frampton is too amped up and Quigg will catch him coming in early and put him away.

terrible undercard
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
Travelling to London this weekend, probably heading to Camden - does anyone know if the pubs in that area will be showing it?
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
I think there are an awful lot of long time fans who are thoroughly pissed off with the PPV, Sky and wider boxing set up. I know I've been close to chucking it in and getting into MMA.Boxerbeetle wrote:Must admit I was expecting a more positive set of responses to this poll - only 45% are currently buying it. Yeah I know exactly what you mean, and I often think the same. I'm so fed up of being ripped off that I'll be binning Sky as soon as my deal is over in around 6 months - it really is terrible value for a boxing fan. They've also lost loads of football coverage which makes the decision even easier.palooka wrote:I think there are an awful lot of long time fans who are thoroughly pissed off with the PPV, Sky and wider boxing set up. But despite all that, I'm definitely buying this fight. Have been following both guys since early in their careers, and have been looking forward to them clashing for years. I've been feeling the 'big fight buzz' all week, can hardly wait for Saturday now.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
About half the people who say they aren't buying it will stream it and the other half will end up caving on the night, they all will be watching it if they can I guarantee.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
The thing is ID resisted PPV or payed it while grumbling; now I've just accepted that a bout like this is PPV though it is a scandal how little decent level boxing is on SKY Sports - in fact it's disgusting. Thank heavens for Biscuit Nation.

As a boxing fan... I would actually (rarely) pay for this fight as it's a good one. But given that you need a sky or virgin 12 month subscription just to be able to get it, no.

Sheephaven Bay or Quinns are probably your best bet. Maybe Escape sports bar if you fancy roughing it.feeb wrote:Travelling to London this weekend, probably heading to Camden - does anyone know if the pubs in that area will be showing it?
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
im buying it, bizarre to think that people on this board - who presumably consider themselves genuine boxing fans - arent going to.
yes, you can stream it but how does that put money in the fighter's pockets? how does that help keep the sport alive?
it's a great main event and burton v shinkwin is a good undercard fight too. 15 quid isnt a great deal for what you are getting...

It's a good fight but dowsn't meet my personal definition of PPV worthy. Simple.veriton wrote:im buying it, bizarre to think that people on this board - who presumably consider themselves genuine boxing fans - arent going to.

It'd be a crying shame if this fight did less buys than the Joshua-Whyte fight did. But it probably will.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
Naw. It's a very very good fight but it won't establish who is number 1 in the division and has an underwhelming undercard. I'll just watch it in a week or two on YouTube.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
It will do a lot less in my opinion. Far better fight but do the casuals have any idea who Scott Quigg is? I doubt it.Boxerbeetle wrote:It'd be a crying shame if this fight did less buys than the Joshua-Whyte fight did. But it probably will.
Can't remember the last PPV I bought. I love boxing but we get treated like idiots by sky
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
In all honesty that is not in the forefront of my mind at all. SKY and Eddie Hearn need to step up. Under the new Premiership rights deal SKY are paying the equivalent of £11 million per game! SKY have the rights to Friday night games, Saturday afternoon games plus up to 3 games on a Sunday. So over just 1 weekend it means their Premiership coverage has cost them £55 million.veriton wrote: yes, you can stream it but how does that put money in the fighter's pockets? how does that help keep the sport alive?
I pay for my TV license, standard SKY subscription, SKY Sports and a charge to watch it in HD. I pay more than enough to expect the biggest fights to be included in my subscription. The only sport on PPV is boxing (WWE is not a sport). I'm sure I read Eddie gets around £150,000 / £200,000 from SKY to put on each Saturday fight night. SKY could easily give Eddie an additional budget a couple of times a year to cover the purse of putting on a super card for SKY Sports. There's no reason for boxing to be on PPV other than pure greed from the broadcaster and promoter. I have no objection to the boxers earning more as they're the ones making the sacrifices and taking the punches however I'm sure Eddie and SKY pocket more than the fighters earn from the PPV revenue.
Boxing fans are treated as mugs. The last few PPV events prove this. I'll do whatever I can to watch the fight and keep the £16.95 in my pocket. Don't worry about the sport dying as a result. Eddie keeps on telling us British boxing is sexy again, the best shape it's been in for years and he's not shy about taking the credit for it. Maybe if people stop buying the PPV's, and continue complaining to SKY on social media about the quality of Saturday Fight Night, they'll buck up their ideas.

Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
Poor argument. Putting fights on low viewership PPV doesn't keep the sport alive, it may destroy it.veriton wrote: yes, you can stream it but how does that put money in the fighter's pockets? how does that help keep the sport alive? ..
I watched Benn-Eubank for free. Hamed-Robinson. Benn-Watson. Tyson-Spinks. And unfortunately Nelson-Deleon
Why do I have to pay to see Quigg-Frampton? And why don't I have to pay PPV to watch the FA cup final?
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
I'm not in the UK and I didn't have Sky when I was - but, I have answered yes on the basis that I would probably get it if I was.
I don't think it's right to pay extra for it and I haven't even seen that much of either fighter - but I think it will be an intriguing and well-matched affair and I would want to see if my confidence in Quigg was correct! All the sh*te and the noise means nothing to me, it's more of an annoyance frankly - it's how it unfolds in the ring I'm interested in and that's all.

Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
How much is Sky Sports per month? £25 of so? I cancelled it over a year ago as the actual standard boxing program is crap. That is £300 saved. I have no issue at all paying £15 for this one off event, for me it is great they do it on PPV as it means I have not lost out by getting rid of the subscription and instead pay maybe £45-£50 per year on a couple select events.
For me, as a consumer, I get much better value for money. I do not pay £25 every single month for something I hardly used but instead spend less than a month subscription a couple times per year. I bet if I was work out my last full years subscription, it actually worked out as £30 per card for me with no more than 10 cards watched for £300. I do not watch anything else on Sky Sports so thats it for me.
I could get one of those sticks but cannot be arsed, I mean, fcuk, what is £15 a couple times per year, least I know it is not going to crash, is high def and hassle free and I do not mind contributing a little towards Quigg and Frampton as I respect them, am looking forward to it and will be entertained by them. I would not expect or like people to be finding ways to get my own work service for nothing and my life principles are universal

Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
my stance too. if you are still getting a sky sports subscription for the boxing you need to accept you are being ripped off. i get bocksnation on virgin so 15 notes for quigg frampton is ok plus terence crawford through the night (will tivo the huck bill to watch sometime).tobyh5 wrote:How much is Sky Sports per month? £25 of so?
