Possible fight between Stephen Smith vs Liam Walsh

Post by Reece_D »

Frank mentioned yesterday in his IFL interview that Pedraza could be unwilling to travel to the UK and could vacate making Liam Walsh next in line for a shot against Stephen Smith. Its a big IF but this would be a another top level fascinating 50/50 fight for British boxing. How do people seeing this fight panning out IFit was to happen? I personally think Walsh would come out on top forcing a late stoppage.

Be a great fight, I've gone for Smith on points but wouldn't bet money on it , potentially one of the best domestic fights we could have if it was to come off.

Anyone got a clue how likely it is that Pedraza and his team would lose the purse bid and have to travel, cant see Eddie bidding too much as Smith isn't sellable on PPV?

Hearn did say in a recent interview that he would be aggressive with the purse bids for this one due to being mucked about by team Pedraza. Could maybe aim to bill this on the Calum Smith Liverpool or AJ Martin card. Smith vs Pedraza does not do well in a main event in Britain or US I feel.

Jose Pedraza is the weakest champion at this weight.. Not massively fancied In the US would imagine Hearn would win purse bids for this. Whether he vacates I don't know but also can't see Hearn putting him in with Walsh... He will pick a easier fight.. Walsh is bigger and better than Selby who stopped Smith. Liam would win mid rounds stoppage.. Be good to see Liam go after Martinez I think he would win there let Smith pick up this title then it becomes Ppv

Don't really see this one happening, but would imagine a Walsh mid to late stoppage win if it did.

Nice fight this one - just fed up of all-British "World" titles.

W@rren could bid big for this fight, headline Liam Smith and put Steve Smith and Liam Walsh co-main on a card in Liverpool...

Walsh on points for me. Such a good fighter and without injury problems would of been a world champion already.

Best possible PPV card for it (no chance of this actually happening). Would be the 4 Smith brothers fighting for world titles on the same card. Bearing in mind its Matchroom you'd have

C.Smith- Jack
P.Smith-J. De Gale
S.Smith- L.Walsh
L.Smith- B.Rose.

Smith beat Walsh by 1 point in the ABAs, it has no relevance on a fight now I know.. I think both are quality fighters, but I believe Walsh would break him down and stop Smith later on in the fight

Walsh much 'naturally bigger' than Smith, surely?

Good fight could be entertaining.

I was torn between all 4 options up there but if it goes the distance I'm leaning towards Smith but I slightly favour Walsh inside the distance

As an aside, I just searched Smiths record on here and found this Stephen Smith (who I actually vaguely remember now) but when I saw the record I was confused as I'd seen the pic at the top and though it was swifty.

That guy could actually pass for Stephen Smith (well obviously but you know what I mean, the current one)

Have they messed the picture up?
That's a picture of swifty surely? If not then the resemblance is uncanny.

Well there's a blatantly obvious possibility I never considered.
I just thought that it was a massive coincidence that 2 guys with the same name looked very alike but you're explanation sounds far more feasible

First I've heard of this. Kinda hope Pedraza vacates now if this is on the cards! I'd fancy Walsh wide on points or late KO. Very underrated fighter.

We need Colombo or Bergerac ASAP.

If it's not him then it looks more like him than any of his brothers.
