Undercard is terrible, but the main event is a fight I've looked forward to for a few years now, so yes I will buy it.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
I phoned up and told them to cut my sports and movies off as i subscribe to sky as a boxing fan and im sick of crap shows being put on ppv, this isnt a crap main event but ppv? No way,i know its only 16.95 but add that onto ur monthly bill,im not paying sky any more for the sh1t premier league stars they can do 1palooka wrote:I think there are an awful lot of long time fans who are thoroughly pissed off with the PPV, Sky and wider boxing set up. I know I've been close to chucking it in and getting into MMA.Boxerbeetle wrote:Must admit I was expecting a more positive set of responses to this poll - only 45% are currently buying it. Personally this is a fight I would not want to risk missing so wouldn't consider streaming it.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
You should try the Hobgoblin, lovely little boozer that will probably show itfeeb wrote:Travelling to London this weekend, probably heading to Camden - does anyone know if the pubs in that area will be showing it?
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
Yes, I will buy it - because its a main event I want to see, its £17, and I'm not a pikey who searches Google for shitty streams.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
Think thats a bit harsh, granted it lacks 'names' but I'd rather this type of card with a fair few 50/50 domestic match ups than 'names' in walkovers like Hearn usually serves up.Happy Slapper wrote:Undercard is terrible, but the main event is a fight I've looked forward to for a few years now, so yes I will buy it.

Loads of 'names' on the card = "More rubbish walkovers/one-sided fights"ste1983 wrote:Think thats a bit harsh, granted it lacks 'names' but I'd rather this type of card with a fair few 50/50 domestic match ups than 'names' in walkovers like Hearn usually serves up.Happy Slapper wrote:Undercard is terrible, but the main event is a fight I've looked forward to for a few years now, so yes I will buy it.
50/50 fights = "Rubbish, never heard of any of them, not enough names"
Loads of 'names' in 50/50 fights = "Great card"... initially, then for months after... "what's with all the shit cards? Shouldn't have had everyone on one night"

I like to see a good undercard like in the old days of ppv. It doesn't really happen anymore and that puts me off big time. Il decide at the last minute though

I have Showtime streaming via Apple TV here in Dublin. Saves me 25 euro - thanksTaansend wrote:Luckily for me it's on regular Showtimeing a rre. I work til midnight but they're showing a reply at 1am so I'll have to avoid my dog for a few hours.

I pay for my TV license, standard SKY subscription, SKY Sports and a charge to watch it in HD. I pay more than enough to expect the biggest fights to be included in my subscription. The only sport on PPV is boxing (WWE is not a sport). I'm sure I read Eddie gets around £150,000 / £200,000 from SKY to put on each Saturday fight night. SKY could easily give Eddie an additional budget a couple of times a year to cover the purse of putting on a super card for SKY Sports. There's no reason for boxing to be on PPV other than pure greed from the broadcaster and promoter. I have no objection to the boxers earning more as they're the ones making the sacrifices and taking the punches however I'm sure Eddie and SKY pocket more than the fighters earn from the PPV revenue.
Boxing fans are treated as mugs. The last few PPV events prove this. I'll do whatever I can to watch the fight and keep the £16.95 in my pocket. Don't worry about the sport dying as a result. Eddie keeps on telling us British boxing is sexy again, the best shape it's been in for years and he's not shy about taking the credit for it. Maybe if people stop buying the PPV's, and continue complaining to SKY on social media about the quality of Saturday Fight Night, they'll buck up their ideas.

The relative handful of hardcore boxing fans aren't really Camp Eddie's target market though. Matchroom & Sky are focused almost entirely on the casual fans who actually bring in the money via PPV sales. It's frustrating, but when 400k + are willing to pay 17 quid to watch Joshua in a British title fight, who can really blame them?chrisnew86 wrote:handsofstone wrote:chad wrote:

i blame them. most people only pay it because they feel they have no choice. The love of boxing is strong, they have hijacked british boxing. Also they brain wash the fornicate out of everyone, its all miss sold in my book. con men .Boxerbeetle wrote:The relative handful of hardcore boxing fans aren't really Camp Eddie's target market though. Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
the amount sky pay for football hasnt got anything to do with hearn.
im comfortable paying ppv for this, because you know where that money is going. if you pay a monthly sports subscription your money isnt just going to the boxers, it's going to everyone...including some stuff that is pretty boring.
15 quid is cheaper than going to the venue, it's cheaper than watching football live at even the fifth tier. i didnt get joshua whyte because it wasnt worth it (but will get joshua v martin), yet hard to miss this kind of fight.

Pretty sure it's the same price, I always book on the Saturday morning. Might be a bit extra if you call up to book, but no reason to do that these days.MightyWarrior wrote:Not decided, may watch at pub - is it still £17 to book on Sat, or do the feckless scrubs put the price up same day booking ?

Ah thanks, if I do I'll book on remote, as can record and watch delay, to avoid listening to double poxed baboons like moron Adam Smith plus the undercard looks like it cost 50 quid

I'll be buying it. It's a quality fight and I hope that it gets the numbers. If it does, it might encourage Sky to be stricter with Hearn putting on mismatches like Brook/Gavin
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
guys...............im going fishing at about 8pm sat night, the stream will hopefully be running clear. pm me before then if you want to join me.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
Not buying. Will listen on BBC Radio Five Live.
Re: Are You Buying The Frampton-Quigg PPV?
I cut Sky off a year ago as I think they're wankers. And trying to disconnect proved that (another story).
So a stream for me, possibly Kodi if I can get it working.
I wouldn't actually mind paying for the fight as a PPV one off but as I say I killed the Sky subscription so it can't happen.
