Murray is very underrated by British boxing fans.
Murray is a good solid pro but nowhere near a p4p contender. I thought he deserved the nod against Martinez but I had Sturm just edging him and thought AA was the better man in their fight. I like the guy but he seems to be found wanting at world level.

fightfan95 wrote:Murray, Bellew, Burns, Afolabi, Mckenzie need to be a little bit lower.
Murray should be higher if anything.

I thought Afolabi dropped enough places for losing to Huck, considering that his closed eye probably caused most of his trouble.

McKenzie drew in a world title fight last year. I think his current position is warranted.
fightfan95 wrote:Callum Smith, Chris Eubank Jr, Anthony Crolla, Terry Flanagan need to be a little higher.
Eubank Jr's record is pretty sparse by the standards of this list and he didn't look very good in his last fight.

Callum Smith's record is also too lacking for him to be ranked much higher.

I don't rate Perez as being that good, so Crolla doesn't currently deserve to be any higher in my opinion.

Khan and Brook swap
Khan has a much deeper record. If Khan had beaten another Algieri type opponent last year then I may well have put him above Brook.
Naandrew wrote:Murray too high about 18 ideal
Insultingly low. This man deserves far more respect.
Naandrew wrote:Same for Bellew 19 ideal
Far too low. McKenzie is currently my 19th ranked fighter and Bellew beat him easily.
Naandrew wrote:Flanagan at 10
For what? His record is not really that good.

Neither is too high.

Bellew's big mouth seems to lead people to completely undervaluing what he's actually done in the ring.

Who would you say Murrays best win is against? He's more known for his losses IMO. In terms on ability there are better guys bellow him.

None were close. He was lucky to get a draw against Sturm.

It's the longstanding issue of over-rating a certain Evertonian that gets me.

I won't bother pushing that one though, Horse has never budged on it before now, he's not likely to listen this month :maybe:

Flanagan doesn't really have a clear world class win yet.

He's getting a bit overrated I think.

I don't like the 'Kevin Mitchell style' Inter-Continental title route that he is taking.

He should go after the British title. These foreigners that he is beating mean very little to me.

Yeah I can see the point of that like , after his back to back stoppages of Brough and Stalker I appreciate they aren't the highest level but were still domestic opponents and unbeaten at the time looked like he maybe was going to go through domestic opponents! I would expect him to stop every domestic 10 stoner I'm confident he will crack your list soon enough!

Generally a fair list.

Only thing I don't really see is Gavin Mc moving a couple of places up following Saturday's fight - thought the opponent was very "WBO Intercontinental" standard.

What do you think of Gav McDonnell's foreigners? You just moved him up two spots for beating yet another one with a padded record.

He's not really been found wanting. He just fights very close to the level of his world level opponents and shows that he is at their level rather than above that level.

He is clearly a proven world class fighter and anyone who says otherwise is wrong and worthy of contempt.

I had Sturm winning their fight and I put it down to lack of experience at world level. The Martinez fight he could've easily got the decision. AA was there to be beaten and he couldn't manage and he was wiped out by GGG (no disgrace there). I like Martin Murray but I think you have him too high if you want to hold me in contempt for disagreeing with you then batter in I won't lose any sleep over it. There are plenty fighters who can compete at world level but aren't quite good enough and I would put Murray in that bracket.

Murray's high ranking is clearly not based on his wins.
