Billy Joe Saunders v ??

Post by ste1983 »

First title defense being confirmed tomorrow, anyone got any idea on who it'll be against / who you'd like it to be against?

It'll be someone like Geale, Soliman, JS Heiland or N'Dam. Fringe world contenders. I'd like to see him fight Jacobs later this year.

Won't be Saul, GGG or Jacobs. They're too much of a risk for him.

I've got a feeling it might be Heiland. Well regarded, highly ranked, not a big puncher and a pretty "safe" title defence.

N'Dam is the name that's doing the rounds on the internet, Warren's supposedly put it into the board for approval.

N'dam would be a very good first defence, was expecting a "Cleverly" style type match.

N'Dam would be an excellent 1st defence, I reckon it would be a cracking fight.

I honestly thought it would be a poor quality challenger, the WBO top 15 has some shocking undeserved entries. No one can have any complaints if it's N'Dam

Agree. Decent first defence. N'Dam is as game as they come and will be in BJS face for the full 12 rounds. I see a clear points win for BJS if this fight comes off but N'Dam will certainly test his stamina.

N'dam must have some of the best recuperative powers in boxing. Down 10 times between the Lemieux and Quillin fights yet never stopped and often rallied after being dropped.

I thought I read somewhere that Kerry Hope's name was in the running (ranked WBO #13.)

I was about to write "dont mind a soft defence" - but Kerry hope would be an absolute joke, beyond a joke. He lost to Frankie Borg 3 fights ago! Nah, even if it was put forwards surely BJS would say no, out of self respect!

:o
Two defensive fighters, with no power and bent on running. You must be joking. All the fans are doing recently is complain about the lack of action. This fight would be like the first 6 rounds of Frampton/Quigg. I can already hear endless moaning about the snooze fest.

I'd dont mind if it happens personally but I doubt it, to big risk for BJS, too little reward.

N'Dam would be a respectable first defence, I was half expecting someone much worse.

It won't exactly be a barnburner, but people don't watch BJS fights expecting excitement anyway.

I'd like N'Dam wouldn't be surprised if it's Hope though.
I can see Langford being groomed for his shot within 18 months

Seems to have been not seen anything official yet and these things are usually done lunchtime.

I saw it reported somewhere earlier that Ovil McKenzie's European title fight (which W*rren won bids for) against Kucher is to be staged in London 30th April. I'd expect this to be on the same show a big stacked show somewhere like Wembley arena (or poss O2).

Are folk joking about Kerry Hope or has this actually been spoken about? For Warren or BJS to even consider him as a defence is a total piss take! On his best day he is no better than average!

Was postponed yesterday, must not be 100% sorted yet, show's at the Copper Box.

Copper Box is only about 3 thousand isn't it? I'd therefore not expect anything brilliant bit of a soft defense by the looks of it.
