freddie pendleton started off 13-13-1. he had 3 more losses before his first title shot, including
a KO loss to an international level guy two fights before the whitaker fight. went on to win the
ibf lightweight title, lose it, fight for it again, and fight for the ibf and wba titles at welter after
more losses. amir khan has been knocked out twice, at lightweight and lightwelter, lost another
decision at lightwelter, and has been hurt several times at welter and would arguably lose to
most of the top 10 at that weight, has never fought at light-middle, and yet is getting a shot
at the middleweight title. there are many examples of guys most people who follow boxing have
hardly heard of recently getting title shots, so it's not like it's
that hard to get title shots and
fight on tv. between all the spanish channels and cable, there is boxing on tv all the time with lots
of guys who have losses. granted, most ufc fighters (the supposed pinnacle fight league of their
sport) still live in their moms' basements or out of their old compact cars and eat out of dumpsters,
so they really have it bad. they are lucky if they can find some impressionable teenage boy from
the suburbs in a tapout t-shirt to hand over their allowance or lawn mowing money for lessons on
how to press their faces into a grown man's groin area.
