VHS boxing tapes required
As you will know ive been converting my own collection of fight action over the last year and putting everything onto youtube. I have around 30 tapes left to do then my collection is done. What im looking for is those collectors like myself who have watched many fights over the years and taped whats been on tv. Im not looking for vhs tapes that are commercial in terms of what you could buy in shops (copyright). Im sort of looking for fights that have been on tv but have had tv commercials removed, again copyright reasons. I can't imagine im the only boxing fan that has put fights onto vhs the way I have done it.
Anyone got any tapes lurking in the attic that most likely is never going to get put onto dvd or onto youtube for others to enjoy too?
Im quite happy converting these and sending back the footage on dvd and hopefully putting the action onto youtube for other boxing fans to watch.
I can hopefully help with postage costs if need be.
If anyone got anything reply to this thread or even pm me cheers.

Re: VHS boxing tapes required
Ha, I sorted through them a few years back. There's a selection of vintage grot, including such titles as "hotel bizarre" and "fat and pregnant". There's also an American porno I bizarrely found in a bin in Chicago after throwing a bag of dog sh1t over my shoulder into the bin and it hit the tape. I said to my mate, hang on that's a video tape, I bet it's porn...ding ding ding. One of the best pornos I've seen in the VHS age. Also a load of stuff I taped off the TV long before the internet made that sort of stuff redundant.
99.99% of those tapes are boxing.

Re: VHS boxing tapes required
im onto my last 20 now but a few are buggered so not sure if im going to get 20 up. So need tapes to keep the interest up.
Re: VHS boxing tapes required
Ideally I want them digitised. There's a lot of fights there I've yet to see surface on the internet/youtube/boxing trackers. Some small hall classics. I've even got about a dozen tapes of brawls/FOTY from the States that I traded back in the mid 90s but most of them have surfaced in one form or another, including the two PCW/Sosa brawls.
Someone on here yeeeeeeeeeears ago offered to digitise them for me but I know for a fact he was selling fights on DVD so I didn't want line anyone's pockets.

All I would do with them is put the contents onto dvd, dvds can be sent back to you on problems, but the content put onto the channel on youtube. I have no interest in selling anything, thats not what im converting them for.
Re: VHS boxing tapes required
No, I get that. I was just saying why, other than my own tardiness, why I've not done it so far.

If anyone has any to give up i have no issue sending back dvds. I just want to keep the channel up and giving fans something to watch from yesteryear. So im here and available to take off hands.

Can you record to mpeg rather than DVD i.e. vob files?

Re: VHS boxing tapes required
I have a dvd converting software. Basically i copy the vhs to dvd. Once on disc i convert it to a suitable movie file for youtube. Reducing the 4gig disc to around 1.8. I could convert the dvd to mpeg, avi or anything but i would need to put the converted movie file back onto another dvd so in effect have to use 2 blank dvds for each tape. Plus the time to do this is not easy.orbtastic wrote:Can you record to mpeg rather than DVD i.e. vob files?
To put a 3 hour vhs tape onto dvd obviously takes 3 hours. I convert to wma which takes another 45 minutes, then to upload to youtube around another 3 hours.

Re: VHS boxing tapes required
Ok, I get you. I assume you have a box with a VHS player and a DVD recorder in it so it's not being captured on the PC.
I'll have a dig through the tapes, see what pops out. I know there's a few fights I have that aren't around digitally that are definitely worth watching.
