The aura of invincibility is now gone from McGregor. I believe a huge part of his game was the mental warfare and confidence he would display before his matches. We saw how weak his ground game was in the Mendes fight (another fighter called in on 2 weeks notice). Once Nate had him on the ground, it was quick work. The top at LW are not going to take his trash talk seriously now, and should dispatch of Conor fairly easily, barring they don't get caught on the feet. Conor is a very fast and flashy striker, but he has been feasting on the 145ers. He has enjoyed a significant size advantage over those guys.

I believe Aldo and Edgar will beat Mac at 145 as well. I doubt the trash talk will have the same effect of Jose this time round.

I also think Conor is going to have a harder time making 145 from now on. He will most likely settle into 155 and become a gatekeeper.

He'd lost fights in the past though.

Wasn't his claim of being a pretty good amatuer boxer rubbished? No records of his claims to success etc? In am probably wrong but I'm sure I see it mentioned here on Boxrec somewhere.

Nate didn't just make Conor flinch, he made him just about jump out of his pants.

Not that I think Nate wins, but it is interesting. I wonder if Conor is feeling the pressure, finally? He is supposed to win this fight. Nate is a huge underdog. Nate is a late replacement. Nate is not intimidated. Man, I hope we get an upset!

I also wonder if the fight was at 170 because Dana is worried about his meal ticket. A loss at 170 is much better than a loss from 160 or under. Diaz did say he agreed to 155, he also didn't look like he cut at all to make weight either. Not that I think he wins as I think both Diaz brothers striking is hugely overrated but interesting anyway.

Exactly. This turns out in the end like an exhibition to me. He jumped 2 weight classes but this does not change McGregor at all for me. He is still the champ at 145 and now I think he will return to 145. I think he is now going to pass on the 155 title bout now that he sees that his game maybe does not translate against bigger guys and he is not that great on the ground.

He didn't. He trained in a very good amateur boxing gym in his youth with Phil Sutcliffe Jr, Jamie Kavanagh and others but as for winning titles, I think that was white lies/rumours.

Sidenote; last Saturday I could not find one bar in this city of about three million carrying Frampton v Quigg. Tonight there were five large bars within easy walking distance carrying the UFC card, and they were all standing room only. I was sedate through the whole card until Diaz landed that first left. I think all of the 20 something hotties sitting around the pool table covered by plywood wet there panties when I suddenly leaped to my feet howling as the fighter of the century folded like a circus tent.

The majority of the bar was in shock, literally speechless.
