He ain't the heavyweight champion. Its bullshit, it pisses me off that there's 4 belts WBA, IBF, WBC and WBO! But you can't have two WBA's. Why not another one then? Let's have 3 WBA champions, fornicate it let's have 2 WBO champs as well. If Lucas Browne is a heavyweight champion of the world so am I...... What a crock of shit.

It pisses everybody off there are so many belts.

But no Aussie has ever won a heavyweight belt from one of the big 4 organisations before. Never! So Browne is due some credit for being the first.

Browne is very likely our first genuine top 10 heavyweight in 100 years as well. So again, credit where it is due,

Correct. As you can though see people aren't interested in common sense.

Hats off to Browne though - what a warrior! Comes across as one of the nicest guys in boxing too.

Title or no title it was a terrific win for Browne who showed real character to pull out the win and at the very least makes him a major player on the world heavyweight scene which I'm sure is a massive shot in the arm for the Aussie fans :TU:

But I'm not a fool, WBA champion, he's not even the best heavyweight in Australasia, he beat an overrated chubby over the hill guy and becomes 'world champion' the WBA will have another belt in a couple weeks maybe #20 and #25 can fight for it, become 'world champion'. Like I said what a crock of shit.

Why not just enjoy the fact Browne has taken up boxing late and with no amateur career behind him and actually achieved something?

Just watch the fight via youtube. I had doubts about Browne's fight plan, But he stuck with it and composed himself well. When he looked flat he didn't resort to wild punches or holding on - And damn those right handers to Chagaev's head at the end were pure evil.

The Lucas Browne that beat Chagaev is a 100% improvement to the one I sore fight Julius Long. The guy can only get better. :bag:

The Lucas Browne who beat Long and Welliver did not look capable of stopping Chagaev, and stopping Chagaev was the only way he was going to be able to win.

Ricky Hatton after Browne beat Chagaev >>>

“I can’t see any problems making fights with Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury.”

“Lucas has fought five times in the UK and has a good fan base.”

Joseph Parker also reached out to Lucas Browne congratulating him via Twitter.

But then the media stirring machine released Parker targeting Browne.

Fact of the matter is it's a fantastic win for Lucas Browne and it's fantastic for Aussie boxing.
I'm wrapped for Browne, I've been following his career since his early days and he's put in the hard yards and is a great bloke to boot. I'd like to see a fight between him and Fury, they even have a mutual opponent in Scotty Belshaw.

For what it's worth, I think 4 belts is absolutely fine. It helps that's it's been that way since I followed the sport but, in a solo sport like boxing - with all of its risks and the low rewards for the 99.9% it makes absolute sense to have several versions.

Look what happens when a super-champ exists, like Floyd Mayweather. Under the one belt system anyone born between about 1980 and 1990 might as well just forget it. How is that fair?

The heavy weight division is starting to look pretty good with the four belt holders , there's some tasty unification fights to be had, Joseph Parker, A.J and Dillion Whyte all moving from prospects to in the mix and David Haye back on board. I think that they're all competitive against each other should they fight each other, some great fights to be made.

Fantastic achievement in front of that crowd, especially after that 6th round when he looked in all sorts of trouble. And then came right hand in the 10th! Certainly an historic moment in Australian boxing history.

Do you think all the versions should have 2 world champions then? Or just the WBA? So that would be 8 world champions at each weight. Itd be nice for every country to have a world champ, make it nice and fair.

So the heavyweight scene was better in the 80s before Tyson went along and ruined it all by unifying belts? Likewise Hopkins at middleweight in the 2000s?

You haven't made one single positive comment about Browne's win. Have you even seen the fight? Do you see no positives at all in Browne travelling to Grozny and beating a guy with a record like Chagaev?

Time was that only KOs counted. How far was Marciano behind on point when he KOed Walcott?
