Rod Walker 59, a Sydney businessman has broken the world record for the longest boxing match by going the distance for a staggering 127 rounds.
Walker kept the gloves up for eight and a half hours in North Sydney on Sunday to smash the previous record by four rounds.
"I felt like a truck had hit me the next morning."
"Every sinew in my body, from the tops of fingers to my toes, was sore. It was by far the toughest thing I've ever done."
A Guinness World Record official stood ringside to make sure each round was full-contact, a requirement for the record to stand.
His opponents included former Wallaby Phil Waugh and boxing stars Nigel Benn and Sakio Bika.
"I was very, very determined not to get out of the ring. They would had to have knocked me out and dragged me out."
The fight raised almost $200,000 for youth and family charity Fusion Western Sydney.

I saw the this on the news, good on him for raising all that money but he looked like he'd never boxed before. I don't think he'd last a minute with anybody in a serious contest. So you'd have to say its the crapiest record going. Like I said good on him raising the money, but it would have been more of an achievement running a 10k ( infact it would of been more of an achievement walking a 10k).

The guy raises something like 200k for charity by staying in a boxing ring for 127 rounds.... And you bag him! It doesn't matter if he looks like he's "boxed before". Good on him! He worked his bum off. He didn't sit behind a screen, bagging people.tsmithy50 wrote:I saw the this on the news, good on him for raising all that money but he looked like he'd never boxed before. I have nothing but admiration for the guy. Even more if it isn't even something he's particularly skilled at.

Have you seen any of the footage? It says he's a businessman, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets done for fraud in the future.... I guess that's the way to do a sponsored event(with minted mates).

What a fantastic effort! To even spar semi-contact for 127 rounds is amazing, to put on a show for 127 rounds, including getting Nigel Benn and Sakio Bika into the ring and also rais a couple of hundred grand is simply awesome
I honestly can't see how anyone could knock it.

give this bloke credit, you knockers would be flat out going 127 rounds with a heavy bag, I think it is a great effort, both physically and mentally, and at his age he should be enjoying his Sundays ,then again I think he would be very pleased at the end result
All the Best
