The great comedy actor Sid James apparently fought boxing booth fights in South Africa....where he was born...before he came over to the UK and became the cheeky Sid James who worked with Hancock and basically went on to become a comedy legend on TV and film.
Amazing to think that Sid was viewed on screen as the epitome of the cheeky, English fella next door...and was actually a hard South African guy of Jewish descent who'd briefly fought for a living.
