Kid Galahad

Post by expe »

His ban has just been reduced by 6 months by UKAD, despite him not giving evidence against anyone else or even admitting his guilt. Shocking that this has happened, should have been a life ban in the first place, now he could be in the ring by the end of this month.

Boxing's dangerous enough without cheats like Galahad taking drugs, don't see any reason why he should be allowed in the ring again. Says a lot about the Ingles that they've stood by him, same goes for the others supporting him.

What a fornicating hypocrite Adam Booth is too, 2 weeks ago saying it should be a criminal offence, but now it's great news that Galahad's back in the ring.

I'm confused is he still with hennessy? A message mick put out the other week made me think he was so when I read this news I thought he might stick him on the undercard of Blackwell v eubank fight. But then today I think on boxing news they suggested he might be on the the brook undercard.

Any idea if he's currently tied to a promoter?

The press release came from Haymon's UK press office Niall Hickman.

Anyone know the testing process once a boxer has returned after a ban for PEDs? Are they just subject to the same random testing as everyone else?

Surely the sensible thing to do would be to test them before & after every single fight until they retire, but presumably nothing like that actually happens...

My thoughts exactly.
I feel he's been let off very lightly but if he does come back I'd be reluctamt to climb in the ring with him unless he proved conclusively he was 100% clean

I agree on all fronts - the length of the ban, the Ingles and that sanctimonious duplicitous prick Booth

Things like this happen because people are immoral cheats. Cheating on a track is one thing- cheating in a ring where many have died or been left incapacitated should be a criminal offence it's disgusting behaviour and no different from loading gloves.

Will be interesting to read the official rationale for this - there is nothing that I can find about it on UKAD's website (www.ukad.org.uk) at the moment. Appeal decision should be posted there in due course in the same way as the original one - the pro boxing ones are at http://www.ukad.org.uk/anti-doping-rule ... tegory=521

That's a very understanding way to look at it....... not sure I'd want to be competing against someone that was on drugs.

What did he get done for anyway? It wasn't a performance enhancer was it? .... I thought it was cannabis or coke or something muggish like that...... can't remember.

I thought it was a steriod? Can't remember either. If it was something daft like a recreational drug then I'm all for giving him a second chance but not if it was PEDs.

Drug use in sport, especially boxing, has to be discouraged in every way. If those considering using, knew that a lifetime ban was the rule, would that add to the discouragement. I think so.
Galahad's return this early sends out the wrong message entirely. If I/we get caught it's only a few months out, and that means maybe only 2/3fights I would miss.
Criminal theories demonstrate that the most effective crime prevention tactic is increasing the likelihood of getting caught, and making the punishment severe. So, more random drug testing and lifetime bans would seem to be the answer.

too many boxers on twitter either wishing him 'happy birthday bro' last week or congratulating him on his ban being cut yesterday for my liking. The same people would want a cheat banned for life if he wasn't part of their circle or if it was a rival.

Just think drugs cheats should be shunned from the sport not pal'd up too. This wasn't a boxer caught out by using recreational drugs this was a performance enhancing steriod in boxing that should be a life ban!
