Andre Dirrell - what happened to him??

Post by Redback Rasta »

Andre Dirrell hasn't fought for near on a year.

He was supposed to fight Blake Caparello in October last year but pulled out. Heard mention about a blood issue.

Anyone know what is wrong with Dirrell and when he is likely to return??

He doesn't have the heart or mentality for the sport. Talented, and he manned up against DeGale. I think he was satisfied to do that after the disgraceful display against Abraham.

I got the impression there was a reason for his withdrawl against Caparello. Heard something about a blood issue??

He pulls out of fights all the time. I think it's anxiety.

Incredibly talented but it's his brother who's the fighter in the family.

Best of luck to him.

Sometimes, things just don't work out for people.

Many athletes are injury prone or just plain unlucky. It exists in all sports.
But in boxing, it's somehow a sign of your desire to participate in the sport.

Feel sorry for him. He's had two defeats both are razor thin.
He could quite easily be undefeated with different judges.

He is a great actor though. Maybe he should try doing that professionally.

Dirrell doesn't have the heart for a fight. He wilts when it is put on him. He has talent in abundance but hasn't got the correct make up to capitalise on that talent.

LOL, he 'hit' him when he was down. If he says he can't continue it doesn't matter if the ref believes him.

Years later and Abraham still gets a pass for a blatant, conscious foul :maybe:

No pass, the DQ was fine. Doesn't mean I won't call Dirrell on the obvious fake job. He was uncomfortable, Art was closing distance and he opted out of the fight when he got a chance. He may have had a full scale panic attack, if not he was completely faking it. That little tap wouldn't have killed a bug.

I agree that Abraham was coming on. I disagree that it was a little tap. I'm still not convinced that it was an act. Maybe he did panic.

Andre was Dirrelled at birth.

I could take ten of those in a row while I type on my computer. Might misspell a couple words, would never leave my chair. He even slumped against the momentum of the shot. Astounding to me that anyone bought that or when Cintron dove out of the ring against PWill. Old news anyway, just poignant to the question posed. In other news Vitali beat Lennox Lewis and Floyd ducked Hatton & Cotto.

Don't be laying that last line of crap at my doorstep.

Cintron was classic.

I've seen shots that looked less lethal than what Dirrell took put people down.

I've seen guys go down without getting hit at all. That was the softest 'punch' Abraham has ever thrown in his life.
