I guess Jack decided not to wait around on Chavez Jr.

Could be an interesting fight

I think the idea is to get the belt from Jack and then put up a rematch vs DeGale. I wonder how a second fight vs Degale would go. Bute seems to have beat his own demon in the first half vs James and look like he could be a threat in SMW for another 2-3 fights.

I think people consistently underestimate Jack. He's nothing special but he's also better than people give him credit for.

IMO they're reading too much into the KO loss...he got caught cold and has since beaten good opponents with solid power.

I agree he is not a world beater but he is good enough for likes of Groves and Bute.

Was a draw against Periban a result of being caught cold ?

Nope.

I actually thought he looked okay in that fight and was unlucky not to win. Since that point he's beaten opposition better than Periban, so I don't think the draw is a major deal. When people keep making predictions that he'll be crushed and stopped (some of the stuff about how easily Groves would blow him out was laughable) it leads me to believe that they're looking too much into the Edwards loss specifically; good fighters with fine durability can be caught cold and stopped like that.

His recent form suggests to me that he'll have enough to beat Bute. In my opinion the main issue with Jack is that he's one-paced, not that lacks durability or boxing skills.

Yeah it is a real good fight, Bute has lost 3 of 5 including coming off a loss and now he is going to fight for the title. Not a good fight, a great fight!!

Looking forward to this fight . Bute showed he isn't done just yet when he gave DeGale a good fight . Will be a good gauge for Jack .

Sometimes a couple of B fighters like Gatti - Ward put on epic wars .

Bute's fight with Degale was one of his best efforts in a long time. In spite of losing that fight he went a long way in restoring his credibility I thought. Against Pascal he fought the whole fight like he was scared, and didn't really start coming on until the last few rounds.

I think Badou Jack is a very beatable Champion, Bute can win here.

Bute is every bit as credible an opponent as Chavez Jr. (Badou Jack's originally scheduled opponent) is, and is certainly more disciplined and more likely to actually show up and make weight.

Pre-Froch Bute would destroy Jack. A degree of Bute's mental recovery will determine how the fight goes. I hope he will finally get close to his old self and stop Jack.

He was as close to his old self as I've seen since the Froch fight in his last two outings. For what that's worth

More credible than JCC Jr.

Bute's three losses are against very good comp. he is a good test for Jack. He could pull the (likely) upset.

If he fights like he did against Degale Bute will do this.

It's a good fight, only I tend not to like seeing boxers walk into a title shot coming off a loss.

The effort Bute put in against DeGale was commendable and showed he can be competitive but i still thought James was a clear winner and was surprised some thought Lucian won

Op made the thread sound like it's shocking.
As others have said Bute gave Chunky a good fight and he's not finished yet, this is no stroll for Jack and questionably harder than the Chavez fight.

Great fight for Badou Jack.

I see this fight following pattern to his last couple. Goes in as champion everyone talks about the other guy and Jack scrapes a decision around the 115-113 mark.
Jack is beatable but I don't think by Bute.
