The discipline issues have been there for a while.

I wonder if the big GGG payday made him too comfortable.

Now he can fight other GGG victims, Murray and Rubio, at 168.

There were talks about a big fight in May. Almost convenient that he doesn't make weight for this tune up held in a 1500 seats venue.

On the other hand, his team was boasting about their new nutritionnist and how David could eat what he wanted. The one that got sacked must be laughing now.

Big fight ??? Canelo is not available in May. Lemieux can't make 155 for Cotto. I strongly doubt that Saunders or Jacobs will risk facing Lemieux. Is he moving up ?

I think Jacobs or Saunders would fight him at 160.

Wasnt' Lemm over 180 for GGG ? Around age 27/28 you can't lose as much weight as u did when younger , time catching up to Lemm , soon Caneloweight will be 158 and over in mma McGregor will be hard pressed to make 145 .

Lemm should just move up to 168 and fight other b and c level fighters , he can fill seats in his hometown.

Russ Anber said that a number of years ago too.
Lemieux can hit no doubt about it but a lack of discipline has dogged him for some time.

There is absolutely no excuse for that. Undisciplined piece of crap....sorry, but true. VERY bad look for him and his team.

Undisciplined yes but he can fight . GGG couldn't take him lightly so he carefully boxed him as he usually does then broke him down , but Lemmy kept trying right to the end .

Makes sense for Lemmy to move up in weight .... why not fight Bute .. would be entertaining and both are in Quebec .

^^^This.

Not making weight is shameful. I am not surprised they didnt just do a purse cut and give it to the other guy.

Apparently they offered 40% purse increase but Del La Rosa turned it down.
Now he gets nothing! He should have said make it 50% and give us a 170lb fight night limit and the fight can go ahead.

Boxers drain down to such unnatural weights now that I try not to condemn them for missing weight. Lemieux is very thickset so he's very big although short for middleweight. He won't come within 15lbs of the MW limit any time in his life except for the days before a fight. It's a bit of a leap in the dark each time.

Its his own fault, now he can't showcase himself, doesn't get no payday, and his activity goes down... now he'll fight in April or May? Wonder against who... i wouldn't mind Dominic Wade, but this bum gets a shot at GGG, lol.

Let him fight Magomedov, or damn... fire away, Andy Lee! :bag:

Glad fight is off. Sick of fighters not making weight.

Smith was shockingly over against Ward.

At least Lemeiux has the balls to step in with the most dangerous fighter in his weight class.

He did, and came out round after round even though he was taking a terrible beating.

Got paid $1.5m dollars though. You know what they say, its harder to get up for your 4am run when youre wearing silk pyjamas.

163 catchweight cause draining down to 160 is so much effort. Ends up not even making that, a full 5lb over the weight he competes at.

This is probably becoming more an more common, failing to make weight... having non-title fights at a few lb over etc... all because guys are pushing it further and further in terms of the draining they do and limits they take their bodies to, to gain a weight advantage.

When you hear about the top guy in the sport, who fooled everyone into thinking he boxes at his "walk around weight" - hooked up to an illegal IV drip, it highlights the weight game in boxing. The governing bodies need to do more.
