Ortiz and Joshua are the only one who have a chance against Wilder

Post by Chepppaaa »

Ortiz, because he is for a heavyweight in terms of technic, footwork, just overall skills on another level

Josh, cause he simply has the size and power

neither does povetkin has the footwork, power or size to match wilder

1. Ortiz
2. Wilder
3. Joshua

these are the 3 best heavyweight. no wrestler, who hugs more than boxes and no totaly unathletic x legged guy. these 3 have the athletic ability, size and power to be mentioned as top 3 heavyweights in the world.

Oh boy. So Fury would not beat Wilder?? LOL or Wlad? Potvetkin? Browne? Haye? Wlad even at his present state still beats Wilder. You do realize that the "Great American Hype" hasn't ever beaten anyone right??

Ortiz would have a chance? He'd destroy Wilder, he's better in every department by a long way. There are a dozen HW who could beat him IMO.

Whyte, both Fury's, Pulev, Parker, even Shannon Briggs has a chance against Wilder.

Wilder is a soft puncher who's very good at selecting his opponends, that's all.

Mate, did you really need to make two threads a day about Wilder? When there were already a bunch of Wilder-Povetkin threads out there to post this stuff in?

I agree that maybe the OP is overrating Wilder generally but it is daft to go to the other extreme. The one thing Wilder can definitely do is punch.

His punches really aren't that hard, he hits very often, but it's not like his punches are the top of the world.
Take a look at Povetkin - Perez, Povetkin gave him like 3 punches and all of them stunned him.
Take a look at Chagaev - Browne last week, pretty much every punch Chagaev gave stunned Browne for half a second.
Around the 5th round you really saw Browne thinking like, hmm perhaps this guy is a little too much above my level.
Even guys that got KOed by Wilder say they are surprised how soft Wilder actually hits.

Madness! The one thing we know for sure about Wilder is that he can punch. Perhaps not every single one of his punches is hard, but when he connects flush with a right hand, particularly a long right hand, it doesn't go well for the other guy. Stiverne went the distance because he too is a big puncher and Wilder chose to use his superior reach and movement to box to a decision - also Stiverne has a proven strong chin and was able to absorb the few flush right hands he took. I would say Wilder's power is arguably overrated, but to call him a soft puncher is, as I said before, madness.

Povetkin is a decent puncher, but not in Wilder's league power-wise IMO. Chagaev likewise, I think it's more likely that Browne has an average chin.

I would favour Ortiz over Wilder, but I could actually envisage a Wilder points victory if he utilised his footspeed and reach advantages and boxed from the outside. Even at this early stage, Joshua is a more advanced boxer than Wilder and certainly has power enough to stop him, but he lacks the experience at the top level, so I'd make that a 50:50 fight at this stage.

Fury vs Wilder is an intriguing matchup because while Fury has by far the superior boxing skills, he also has a relatively weak chin, which coupled with Wilder's power could spell disaster. I couldn't possibly see Wilder taking a decision in that fight - it's either Fury or Wilder by KO and at this stage my money would be on Fury.

Povetkin vs Wilder is another great matchup that I see as similar to Ortiz vs Wilder - I make Povetkin a slight favourite at this stage, but Wilder could do well boxing on the outside and always has the ability to end it with one big right hand.

Another classic from Chepppa. What does Wilder need to add to his game to get close to No. 2 greatest ever fighter Guillermo Rigondeaux? Slicker counter punching maybe?

Wilder is a basketball player who has a punchers chance vs Povetkin.

If haye is 80% of what he was, I'd pick him over Wilder easily.

Wilder doesn't have the skills to keep Haye off, and he's wide open for counters.

Wilder will get derailed soon enough, he's so amateurish.

don't be divvy, tyson fury would easily outbox the awful wilder who can't go backwards, has terrible ring IQ, throws shots and leaves himself exposed and off balance, there is so much wrong with wilder that to say only ortiz and joshua have a chance at beating him is stupid :brick:

Fury is far from a skilled Boxer. He and Wilder would be a fun and clumsy slugfest. I'd favor Fury on toughness, but either could get stopped. If Fury fought like he did against Wlad, he'd lose.

Perhaps Wilder can hit hard, but his average punch is far from hard. Povetkin, Chagaev and even Stiverne, their avarage hits are way harder, somehow Wilder just punches a lot more.

Yea, but he get's tired after a little while, so in a 12 rounder his hits will probably be just as weak as Wilder his on avarage.

Yes, both are pretty uncoordinated, could end up looking like a pub fight.
