I wouldn't be surprised if Wilder puts Povetkin to sleep, but if he 'puts on a clinic' and outboxes him, I will be shocked and impressed. I was impressed by Wilder when we beat Stiverne (chin, stamina and boxing brain all better than advertised) but I haven't been impressed with him since.

Yes I agree, he's not 'put on a clinic' before so why start now (and no the Stiverne fight wasn't one). I do however think it's healthier and brings the best of of people when they fight decent opposition and that is what Deontay has now.

I certainly can't see him putting on a clinic. If the fight goes beyond 6 rounds then I can only see Povetkin winning. If Wilder puts him to sleep in the first couple of rounds then it is a destructive win, but not a clinic.

Against who? Klitschko got criticized because he fought Pianeta, and Klitschko deserved that critism actually, somehow the best opponend Wilder ever faced in his entire carreer (Szpilka), has a lower boxrec rating at the top of his carreer as Pianeta had at the time he fought Klitschko.
So yea, Wilder has a higher KO ratio, but his ratio is flawed as hell.
You can compare him to Fabio Maldonado, who actually had an even higher ratio if his opponend didn't get disqualified.

Also please note that many of Wilder his opponends were flagged of KO while sitting on a chair, not laying on the ground or anything like that.

How can people think Wilder is going to "put on a clinic" against Povetkin (the 3rd or 4th best heavyweight in the world) when he failed to do so against Molina (barely even top 40), Duhaupas (scraping into the top 30) and Szpilka (who may just scrape the top 20 with a strong wind behind him).

stiverne was champion

maliks cott is right now rated as #9 best heavyweight in the world according boxrec

so boxing and beating a champion and beating a top 10 heavyweight in 1 round doesnt mean anything?

Stiverne was a good win - Wilder's best to date, no doubt. Wilder boxed smartly, using his substantial athletic, stamina and reach advantages to win a wide decision.

Malik Scott wasn't in the top 15 when Wilder beat him and is only there now after a win (where he was knocked down) against an ancient Tony Thompson. It looks good on his record, but less so when you consider that Chisora stopped Scott (albeit controversially).

Stiverne is a good win but let's face it, Scott is basically Chisora's sloppy seconds and imo took a dive in that fight. I'm not saying he was paid off or anything silly. But Scott obviously has no heart and doesn't like been hit. He didn't want to get up against Chisora after getting dropped and honestly, I think he was looking for the first chance to go down against Wilder. As soon as Wilder connected with anything, Scott was going to drop. He just didn't want it.

I do like Wilder though. He's a very entertaining fighter and his fights are always good to watch so he's good for the division. Manly because he is quite limited so his fights are always competitive even against mediocre opposition.

I know I can't prove it, but I'm quite convinced that Wilder and neither Stiverne would probably have beaten Vitali Klitschko at the time.
He might have won his belt in a fair way, just like Charles Martin, just like Lucas Browne and name them, but let's get real, it's not like Wilder ever beated a real top contender, unlike Vitali, unlike many of the guys Povetkin fought, name it.
Malik Scott, who has also been KOed by Chisora, seemed to me like a diver against Wilder, it was very odd to see him against Wilder, not even trying to hit him at all, indeed, NOT AT ALL during the whole fight and by the first touch Wilder gave him he straight away dived to the ground, clearly following Wilder with his eyes, in other words, clearly not beïng KO and simply refusing to stand up from that point.

To me that's a dive, if you think something else, go ahead, I can't prove you wrong, I just write what I see and let's get real, Scott himself is quite a soft puncher for a heavyweight.

He should be indeed, he got all the advantages, reach, age, size, everything. And Povetkin isn't as good as he used to be and only getting worse. Somehow it wouldn't surprise me if Povetkin still wins.

There is some major Wilder nuthugging going on here.
Wilder has good power, but it takes him way longer to be effective with it against mediocre opponents-- as opposed to straight up cans.
I can't see Povetkin's chin being worse than Molina's and it took Wilder 9 rounds to KO Molina. And this should be the first fight where we see Wilder's chin really tested. I just don't think he has the skills to keep Povetkin at distance with his jab. Stiverne's lack of conditioning meant Wilder could easily outmanoeuvre him on fitness alone. Doubtful that will happen with Povetkin.
Unless you're blinded by Wilder's nuts Povetkin is a clear favourite.

Povetkin is a natural brawler. Klitschko avoided the brawl and took him apart. Against lesser opponents Povetkins head down charge eventually knocked them on their asses. Though when you say lesser opponent, look at his last 10 fights or so back to when he first claimed the WBA title from Chagaev, that's some solid boxers with solid records he faced. I still see him as one of the most dangerous and certainly as the most experienced boxer in the mix for the titles right now.
With that resume I don't see him intimidated by Wilder either and I wonder if Wilder will keep the distance and wont be drawn into a brawl in close quarters with Povetkin. If he does, we will see what Wilders KO percentage is worth and how good both fighters chins are.
Not so sure if it's wishful thinking, but I believe the fight could be entertaining and I do favor Povetkin, the only thing giving me a headache is his performance against Huck who had him on the brink of defeat. Huck was looking clumsy and sluggish at best that night and Povetkin did not seem to be trained for 12 rounds at all.
Anyways, this is Povetkins big shot to reclaim a portion of the heavyweight titles, he should prepare accordingly and we could be in for a treat.

Isn't wilder around 10/11? What are you going to spend your $ on if you win?
Surely you're better off placing 2 or 3 more specific bets? Wilder KO10, etc. Less than even money always seems a waste.

Povetkin is clearly the better boxer and Wilder is still looking for all kind of excuses to prevent fight from happening actually. So it isn't that odd is it?

wilder does want the fight happening. only problem and that is a big problem is the fight happening in russia, where very corrupt descision happen or you win a fight and than get indicted that ou have been taking drugs (duradula-kudryashov...etc)
