hattons problems dont need celebrating.........
He had Towers v Browne in Hull that night, the function was at dinner time. He looked fine on Sky! Eating Indians and getting paid thousands of pounds for talking isn't a big problem.

Hahahaha. You're right he'd turn up to anything he was asked to, or sign anything for anyone, just to feel relevant.

I've only been to one of these, with Larry Holmes, and he was great; very different from the bitter character he can be portrayed as.

I agree that these sorts of things should be post-career. As for Joshua I've met him a fair few times from his early days on the GB squad and from what I've seen he's a genuinely nice guy that will always say hello and chat with you. He's always seemed very focused, humble and disciplined and keen to learn. I don't know how scripted his answers are as he comes across the same in person. He may have another side, who knows, but I don't for one minute think that he is putting on a persona that is very different from who he really is.

Agreed Matt.
After our event he went into town and took over the decks in the nightclub until 7am.
No pretentious behaviour or scripted replies to questions.

Agreed.

Parkinson's interviews with Muhammad Ali are amongst the best TV I have ever seen. :OhYes:

Not quite sure why people find offensive that people might want to have access to people they admire.

I don't know AJ well, I've met him a few times at corporate events (surreally at Wimbledon last year), and he's always urbane and charming, he's certainly far from dumb.

These events for him are part of a generic corporate branding, if you don't want to go, or think he shouldn't be doing it, don't go. Equally, if "brand Joshua" if not your thing, fine, but it's a sensible thing to do.

Due to kids/work etc ,now I only do 1 Vegas trip a year, compared to 3 or 4 in previous years. Back in the day, when you are at a high end corporate event, all the fighters are on their absolute A game as they know the importance to high rollers. I won't bore the board with the stories of the last 10 years, but these guys play the game. To circle back, to have a go at AJ seems a little naive.

Just to say I'm not having a go at AJ, I just find it amazing that people pay £100 to go to these things.

And Ian, certainly not trying to pick a fight with you, but you get a bit of grub, the marginal cost of that isn't so high.

I'm being a hypocrite, incidentally, as every time I've been,it's a corporate account.

It's not everyone's bag but the existence of these tours is testimony to one thing - they are popular ! No one does these things for "the good of" and there's bound to be a profit margin.
As Loynsey says don't go if you're not interested.
Even the UFC is getting on the bandwagon.
McGregor will be over for a tour within 9 months.
