Well yes of course they are, I mean, who would dispute that?Tanzio wrote:Come on, man, Ward, Kessler and Froch are obviously cowardly bumsjamesmcdonnell wrote:I think Jones would have won, but not as easily as some might think. Ward is class.Lancenix wrote:

andre ward would not of beat a prime roy jones jr at 168, he'd of had a few moments but thats it like
Re: Prime Roy vs Ward 168lbs~The Better Fighter?
That they are not. Tough Euro's. You don't know anything about that but they are slow. Jones would have picked em apart.Tanzio wrote:Come on, man, Ward, Kessler and Froch are obviously cowardly bumsjamesmcdonnell wrote:I think Jones would have won, but not as easily as some might think. Re: Prime Roy vs Ward 168lbs~The Better Fighter?
I'm not sure how Ward would have done against Andre Dirrell much less RJJ..Roy was smart, dynamic, nearly unhittable, and could hurt you with either hand at amazing speed. Gotta lean towards Roy.

You are a sick puppy, Farcenix. Did you forget someone? You know, the North American who beat them both.Lancenix wrote:That they are not. Tough Euro's. Ward. But Jones would have beat all the 3 mentioned. All I was disputing is that you called them cowardly bums.Tanzio wrote:You are a sick puppy, Farcenix. Did you forget someone? Anyone who actually reads my posts and has the intelligence to digest them recognizes that I was being sarcastic, since I never use the words bum or coward to describe professional boxers (with the possible exception of the Mexican prima doña JCC Jr.).Lancenix wrote:Ward. Re: Prime Roy vs Ward 168lbs~The Better Fighter?
It's easy to forget that Jones spent so much of his career at 175 where his power was still solid, but definitely diminished. He had all the looks of a truly special fighter at 168 where his ridiculous speed was paired with exceptional punching power. I think Jones wins this and even has a shot to stop Ward and I don't view that as any kind of denigration of Ward.
What I find interesting is that I feel that the fight would be much more competitive at 175. But that would be speculation on top of speculation I suppose.

says bet on Andre Ward! He's a much bigger more aggressive version of
Rigo with ELITE Gold Medal pedigreeWard has won all of his contest in DECISIVE fashion! I'm telling you come the 7th round everybody
will be saying "Man...Roy Better Step It Up He BETTER DO SOMETHING!" Andre would make a UGLY mugging fight type of fight where those rounds
go by FAST in his favorlook up and it's already the 10th 114-111 in favor of Ward. His mugging style, his fast reflexes like a super feather
Mayweather, and difficult body posturing would make it HARD for Roy to tee off on him. Ward wins it 116-113 and avoids a rematch runs like hell
Roy would DESTROY Ward in a rematch though! Forget about the Montell fight his way of thinking his persona he likes to get back! Prime Roy
loves payback! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=istJXUJJP0g Andre Ward have to take that win over a PRIME Roy and damn near go into
hiding avoiding any type of talks of a rematch.

Great Match Up. Potentially Roys toughest fight, but he comes through.

Ward doesn't possess the chin to hang with a prime Roy. It would only be a matter of time before a Roy combination would knock him out. To beat Roy at 168 you need a steel chin so you could pressure him and get close enough to rough him up on the inside.
Re: Prime Roy vs Ward 168lbs~The Better Fighter?
I agree, "you need a steel chin" and legitimate pop. SOGgy would not survive, but he would force RJJ to shift to high gear.Baby Face Finster wrote:Ward doesn't possess the chin to hang with a prime Roy. Prime Roy beats Ward. And every damn fighter that's ever gotten in the ring between 160-168. He was too damn fast. Reflexes were unmatched.

In my opinion he would be too FAST and not allow Ward to get his TIMING or RHYTHM!
Ward would NOT beat Roy to the PUNCH
from long range and would STRUGGLE to get in and out on Jones because of his FOOTWORK, SPEED and REFLEXES
I think the ONLY way to beat PRIME Roy is to knock him OUT
but WARD does not
have the POWER to HURT Jones with 1 punch! People would be saying "ElJefe was RIGHT! But why was he typing like an IDIOT!?"
Re: Prime Roy vs Ward 168lbs~The Better Fighter?
Ward was proven at 168, beat all the best of his generation.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I think Jones would have won, but not as easily as some might think. Ward is class.Lancenix wrote:Those 2 fighters are slow. Jones would have ran circles around him.jamesmcdonnell wrote:

Jones Jnr only fought one credible opponent at 168, only 5 in total. Credible win was James Toney who was a joke on the night at 168. Ward cleaned up... Froch, Kessler, Abraham throw Bika and Dawson in.
Id pick Jones, all day, but he wasnt a great super middleweight, he just passed through the division.
Re: Prime Roy vs Ward 168lbs~The Better Fighter?
Jones just toyed with people in the 90's. He wasnt even remotely threatened by Hopkins or Toney. He could do whatever he wanted in the ring. I just wish he came along roughly a decade sooner so we could've seen him fight Hagler and Hearns and Leonard. My God.

He'd have been too big really for Leonard or Hagler, his foray at middleweight was brief, and he soon moved on. Think Hearns would have struggled at 168 against Jones.diddy wrote:Jones just toyed with people in the 90's. He wasnt even remotely threatened by Hopkins or Toney.
