How far before a fight do most fighters prefer to take a shower?

I would always take one the morning of. I have friends who would go days without showering or wearing deodorant.

I guess I always wanted to prove my superiority to my opponent as opposed to gaining an advantage by distracting him with days of sweat and stink.

I have heard stories of people trying to distract with funk, yes... Nasty.

I was more curious if there are fighters who prefer to take a shower closer to fight time (maybe within a few hours even). I always feel like I'm able to perform any kind of endurance training better if I'm clean, and tend to shower both before and after a strenuous workout.

I feel better clean as well. I usually don't right before because I always cut pretty easily and mentally always felt that post shower "soft skin" would increase my chances. Usually about 10 or 11 am I'd hop in the shower if I fought that night.

Shower quickly early in the morning -- and again when you get back to the dressing room after the fight, lol ,.. Don't shave the day of the fight, but no need to carry a 3 day beard into the fight... But a shower and shave are not going to beat you if you like to be clean shaven for interviews after the fight... The thing that beats you is poor preparation not a quick shower.. Don't take a shower for 15 minutes. Wet up good.. soap up and scrub real good and quickly.. rinse very well and get out in 5 minutes.. Also, don't sit in a tub and soak... and don't swim in a heated pool - heated to where you don't feel coolness in the water.
