Fights That Were A Little Fishy.
It's just a personal thing, I'm not saying they were fixed, but something odd. Apart from the obvious ones Ali-Liston, Willard-Johnson.
Jeff Harding vs Tom Collins - Collins packs in after being hit in the throat?
Seth Mitchell vs Jonathon Banks - Banks fights like a zombie after winning the first fight. Was it because he would likely have faced Wlad next?
Eubank vs Benn II - Michael Nunn goes on record saying it's a draw before the decision is announced.
Eubank - Jarvis - How the hell did Eubank get away with that?
Plenty of others, anyone?

Eubank v sherry and laing v some Italian for the European where I think one round lasted nearly 5 minutes !
Re: Fights That Were A Little Fishy.
Eubank v Schommer, that Brazilian, Amirilo or something.

The second Benn vs Collins is on the level for me. I think Nigel and his cornerman, Jimmy Tibbs? agreed that he would give it a go, but he would get pulled out if he was taking too much punishment.Coco wrote:Eubank v Schommer, that Brazilian, Amirilo or something.

Liston Ali
both, but more so the second fight.
both, but more so the second fight.
Re: Fights That Were A Little Fishy.
I've never watched it again but I remember thinking at the time Banks threw the fight. Didn't he basically almost knock Mitchell out like he did in the first fight and then just step off the gas and not really do anything from that point onwards? Winning was not in the script.keithmoonhangover wrote: Seth Mitchell vs Jonathon Banks - Banks fights like a zombie after winning the first fight. Was it because he would likely have faced Wlad next?

We all knew about that one beforehand. It should have been called an exhibition.GooalaShooola wrote:Andrew Flintoff v Richard Dawson...

To be fair, it was no more of a farce than the Banks v Mitchell rematch.keithmoonhangover wrote:We all knew about that one beforehand. It should have been called an exhibition.GooalaShooola wrote:Andrew Flintoff v Richard Dawson...

Wilder vs Scott
Although I don't think Wilder or his team did anything fishy, I do think Scott wanted nothing to do with Wilder and was looking to take a dive the first chance he got.

What happened in the Eubank - Jarvis fight?
Re: Fights That Were A Little Fishy.
Dawson nearly shat himself when he realised he'd actually punched flintoff by accident! That whole episode was an absolute disgrace to boxing and anyone that took part in its should be utterly ashamed. I.e McGuigan etcGooalaShooola wrote:Andrew Flintoff v Richard Dawson...

Sturm/Chudinov 2 was absurd

Most obvious fixed fight in historyGooalaShooola wrote:Andrew Flintoff v Richard Dawson...

Good shout. I remember that one. Think both their purses were held either temporarily so they could investigate betting patterns? The McPhilbin v Enzo fight where Enzo was gone and the bell was rung early was a piss take.Stevieb8006 wrote:Gomez vs mcdonaugh? The one where he was winning and quit mid round.
Barnes vs vincent.
Was there not a bit of controversy about Khans defeat to Peterson? The man in the red hat or some bollux? I remember the ref taking points off a couple of times for Khan pushing.
Re: Fights That Were A Little Fishy.
Brandon Rios v Richard Abril was so blatantly fixed. That fight should've been investigated and those involved should've had no further involvement in boxing.

Any time Brian Nielsen boxed a name heavyweight they seemed to lose in odd circumstances, with plenty of ham acting.

Tim Doc Anderson - Mark Gastineau 2 was more than a little fishy.....
Re: Fights That Were A Little Fishy.
In the book, 'The Years of the Locust', it's claimed that Anderson was drugged.reggaereggae wrote:Tim Doc Anderson - Mark Gastineau 2 was more than a little fishy.....

That's a good book. Anderson really believed that to be the case as his health deteriorated.... He shot the promoter and is now in life imprisonmentmilpool wrote:In the book, 'The Years of the Locust', it's claimed that Anderson was drugged.reggaereggae wrote:Tim Doc Anderson - Mark Gastineau 2 was more than a little fishy.....
