Re: I'm going out on a limb........
Disagree. He's going to get bished, bashed and boshed all over the shop.
He'll look ok for a couple of rounds due to his speed but as soon as a very good opponent can figure out the timing for Khan, it's all over. He's not going to hurt Canelo either.
Khan is pension building and will finish his career with his 2 biggest career paydays but another pair of ko defeats.

Tbh, I think Khan would have to put on enough extra weight to make at least cruiserweight before his punch resistance improved to any great extent. He's always been fragile, and if Canelo even brushes him with the type of shot that finished Kirkland, he will have no chance of staying up.freddydoesdallas wrote:People said that when he moved to lwwkeithmoonhangover wrote:I think the extra weight will improve his punch resistance a little.Boxerbeetle wrote:I have to agree with the majority above - Khan is just much too fragile to last 12 rounds against Alvarez. The sad thing is, depending on what you think of Khan? Is that this may just happen, you just never know in boxing?jamesmcdonnell wrote:Wake up, wake up, it's time for school!Rexob wrote:Just imagine this, khan beats Canelo, then next year goes on to beat a rusty Mayweather becoming King khan for real.

Sometimes chins get better when the fighters move up in weight. Haye is a good example. He almost got ko'd by a super middle and got greased in a round by an average amateur at light heavy.... But hasn't even gone down as a heavy (I think) and took some decent shots off big hitting Wlad

I think the big heavyweights struggle to land a clean punch on a fit, nimble fighter like Haye. I doubt that his waistline has strengthened his jawbone.reggaereggae wrote:Sometimes chins get better when the fighters move up in weight. Haye is a good example. Don't forget Mormeck nearly iced him, his legs were all over the place well after the KD.

Fair point, but it's more like his legs are stronger, month is waistline! Never saw this fight, will check it. I thought it was just a flash knockdownorbtastic wrote:Don't forget Mormeck nearly iced him, his legs were all over the place well after the KD.

Nah, was Ringside, his legs were all over the place. You can't see it on the TV replay as the camera pans back up but he couldn't even get his legs on the canvas. He was hurt for the remainder of the round but Mormeck couldn't really capitalise on it enough.

Barrett knocked Haye down, didn't he? Don't think it was called as a knockdown, but it definitely was, he looked really shaky afterwards.

Re: I'm going out on a limb........
I don't think Khan has gotten better since he moved up from 140 and he isn't even particularly big at 147 anyway. I don't see him going up another division as being too beneficial, and going by recent pictures his added weight seems to mainly be bulk around his mid-section, not muscle distributed around his body (his arms look like twigs next to Canelo's). Especially as a speed guy I'm not sure if packing on that type of mass is much help.
IMO some people (Keith is hardly alone in this...it seems fairly common across forums) are overstating his ability to outbox Canelo for more than a few rounds.

In fairness, he looked fantastic in the Alexander fight, where he did lots of the little things right. Controlling foot position, tempo and minimizing Devon's ability to land.crusader wrote:I don't think Khan has gotten better since he moved up from 140 and he isn't even particularly big at 147 anyway. He will beat Canelo and he will do it by controlling the pace of the fight. Don't rule out Khan hurting Saul early. And make no mistake, Khan will be in top physical condition come fight night.
Re: I'm going out on a limb........
I don't see it, just like I didn't see Povetkin beating Wlad.
To be honest, I'm not even sure if you believed that Povetkin would beat Wlad or that Khan will beat Canelo....I think you like the attention you get when you make these types of claims.

No I believe it mate. I'm not that much of an attention seeker. Definitely 100% not. Although I will admit to liking the underdog a little bit too much.crusader wrote:I don't see it, just like I didn't see Povetkin beating Wlad.

With regards to Povetkin, I was convinced his pacing and accuracy were going to win him the fight. Obviously it didn't,
Re: I'm going out on a limb........
Khan has the physical assets to completely outbox Canelo but not the boxing IQ. Did anyone see the Khan v Algeri match? If Algeria can land plenty Canelo will manage to as well.
Khan has regressed, the last time he looked really good was against Alexander and he hasn't looked good enough since to make me believe he'll do more than dazzle Alvarez with speed for a couple of rounds before doing something stupid and getting TKO'd.

In seriousness, of course stranger things have happened than a Khan win, but I would indeed be surprised. I think even if he is comfortable at the weight, his lack of power, and lack of ring intelligence will be his undoing.

Yeah I was at that fight, and even from up in the rafters it was clear he was in big trouble. Luckily for him Mormeck was a bit punched out, and he wasn't able to finish him off. Mormeck never had the best stamina.orbtastic wrote:4threggaereggae wrote:What round was it? Just youtubeing it.orbtastic wrote:Nah, was Ringside, his legs were all over the place. Anyway, just wondering what you think of this. I think it's a win-win situation for Amir. Obviously if he wins, his career blows up, but if he loses, he was too small for the job and lost to one of the p4p best. He can go back down to welter and, after a tune up, get another title shot.

Re: I'm going out on a limb........
I think Khan will win too. I haven't read all of the comments and posts on this thread, so apologies if I'm repeating what has already been said, but I think Khan's speed will be too much for Canelo. If he nips in and out with simple 2-3 punch combos he'll bamboozle the ginger mex.
I'm putting money on it and I rarely bet on boxing.
