What was the Danny Green fight were he didn't seem to touch the opponent and went on a wwe style rant
Also Gethin pulling out in the corner after he heavily dropped Coyle looked suspect at the time!
Derry Vs Crolla II and Beltran vs Burns as draw's also the first men mentioned clearly clearly won both fights for me!

I thought a draw for Derry vs Crolla II was a fair result at the time, although admittedly I've not watched it back.cocobongo wrote:What was the Danny Green fight were he didn't seem to touch the opponent and went on a wwe style rant

No need to re-watch the Beltran vs Burns fight though, that was a robbery.

Danny Green fight against Paul Briggs. Very odd. Briggs was a tough guy too. Had a hard life, i read his autobiographycocobongo wrote:What was the Danny Green fight were he didn't seem to touch the opponent and went on a wwe style rant

Burns vs cook were the bookies in london took daft amounts of dough on cook getting stopped within 3.
Re: Fights That Were A Little Fishy.
That was frustrating! I was all hyped up after Burns came in to the ring to the sounds of Charlie Lownoise and Mental Theo then Cooks back collapses like an MFI wardrobe!chiggsy wrote:Burns vs cook were the bookies in london took daft amounts of dough on cook getting stopped within 3.

Khan v Kindelan - the rematch after the Olympics.
Just felt like a setup to launch Khan's pro career, with Mario perhaps invited to not put up too much of a scrap this time (having dealt with Khan twice in the previous year)

I didn't see that fight. I had a night out and my dad was texting me the scores after each round and afterwards said the exact same thing as yourself.Loftgroov wrote:Khan v Kindelan - the rematch after the Olympics.

I believe Banks broke both his hands trying to take out Mitchell and watching the fight you can believe that Banks is just trying to hide the fact that his hands are smashed and playing it off as nonchalance. That's how i remembered it anyway and i don't plan on watching it again to check my opinion.
I think this might be the fishiest and most bizarre fight i have ever seen. I don't know how the opponent kept a straight face. I've never heard so much laughter during a boxing match...

Toney vs Tiberi stunk to high heaven.
I wonder which fighter got the most dodgy decisions. Eubank had a fair few.

I've seen Toney have bad decisions go against him more than for him.keithmoonhangover wrote:Toney vs Tiberi stunk to high heaven.

I thought he lost to Tiberi, Johnson and the first McCallum fight, gilgamesh wrote:I've seen Toney have bad decisions go against him more than for him.keithmoonhangover wrote:Toney vs Tiberi stunk to high heaven.

Eubank had a good few close fights that were hard to score because of his awkward style.keithmoonhangover wrote:Toney vs Tiberi stunk to high heaven.

I didn't see the latter two. I thought he got screwed in both Montell Griffin fights though, and the first Sam Peter fight.keithmoonhangover wrote:I thought he lost to Tiberi, Johnson and the first McCallum fight, gilgamesh wrote:I've seen Toney have bad decisions go against him more than for him.keithmoonhangover wrote:Toney vs Tiberi stunk to high heaven.

Fury getting the decision 1st time against McDermott was a bit suspect

I agree, but think it was just a case of not being scored the way most others saw it.

Re: Fights That Were A Little Fishy.
I've read a book and I cannot remember for the life of me which book it was, but it made reference to the Clay v Liston bouts. (Which I 100% believe were fixed by Blinky and the mob).
The book goes onto suggest that there was one more 'huge' Ali fight which wasn't on the level but that if it ever came out would ruin boxing. I immediately thought of the Rumble in the Jungle.
Nowadays, the slightest hint of criticism of Ali will see you hung, drawn and quartered. And rightly so, as he did more for the sport than arguably anyone ever has or will do again....hence the reluctance of calling 'fix' on any of his fights???
IF, there were any dodgy dealings going on, it is almost certain that the winner knows absolutely nothing about it.
If, as a loser you were offered a huge sum of money, promises of getting your honest break sooner or later (Jake Lamotta) versus being killed by men that did not bluff then what would you do? Take the dive or do a Bruce Willis in Pulp Fiction?

Re: Fights That Were A Little Fishy.
I'll always be certain that the 2nd Liston fight was a dive on Liston's part. Why he took the dive I'll never know, but he definitely took a dive. None of Ali's other fights looked fixed to me. Unless you wanna count bad judging as a fix, in which case that's happened more times than any of us can count.CharlesListon wrote:I've read a book and I cannot remember for the life of me which book it was, but it made reference to the Clay v Liston bouts. I wouldn't say it was a dive. He got hit and he went down. The chaos afterwords, who knows. One thing I am certain of.... If Liston had got up, he would have taken a beating.gilgamesh wrote:I'll always be certain that the 2nd Liston fight was a dive on Liston's part. From the amateurs Callum Smith losing a Olympic qualifier in turkey against a Turk on points. He absolutely battered him. So one sided. Worst decision ever.
Also the obvious one is Robin Reids ref in Germany. More fishy than captain birds eye that ref.
