Totally agreed Oiky re the Butcher Bro's ! I will say this though about the difference I see between the Irish and English fight videos.....Yes it's true what you say about most Irish call outs coming to nothing, and then when they do only a handfull show any real talent !

Whereas for a long time there was only the Elias Smith vs Wayne Mason fight, and that fight put all of those others to shame !!!

Seems in general, the English talk a lot less about fighting, and when it comes time to fight they deliver !!!

i saw that once, I think, Smith vs Mason

isn't that the one where at the end one guy goes to the other 'what was this all about?', and the other dude goes 'search me, I don't know'

classic feud!

How many matches do you reckon he has had Cigano? He looked pretty tight with his punches for a novice.

Well with that type of form you can't really call him a novice can you ,imagine having your first white collar fight an having to fight him :o  ,he's been fighting all his life an never beat so i am told.
Much respect for Mason tho , one hard mush ,his jaw was broke in that fight !
someone told me mason was an ABA champion over the border of Scotland ? Elias told me he broke his had to .
Anyways IN MY OPINION its the best bare fist fight you will eva see .

It sounded like that's what you were calling him I just meant a guy who's only been in gym not the ring. To me he looked very good especially stamina wise. I just expected him to have had loads of fights to be having a go with Mason like that. He would have fought a fresh guy after the Mason fight if there had been one willing.

Did you know its Hosea Burton and his brother Zac doing the filming in the barn fight ? and its their dad Offie Burton who is the referee .

Theoretical of course, but in my mind Paddy Ward is the best of the Irish fighting men who has videos to watch on youtube, and I would say the same of Elias Smith as an English Gypsy fighting man, out of the relatively few fight's that are available involving them in comparison....So we have two very good hard tough men from both communities....Who wins ?

Elias Smith would win that i think , the gas tank he got is un real , i mean in the barn the pace he set on mason was astonishing especially with that type of punch output .
I think Ward is a plodder although he is rangy , for me i think Davie Joyce is the best of the irishmen ;-)

Yes I think someone mentioned that when it was first on YouTube... Does he spar with those guys? What size is Elias? Looks about 13 stone.

With Offie being mentioned, it brings to mind Big Just...was he as good as Bartley Gorman made out or another myth and legend?

I think were in agreement ! It's ironic you mention Elias' tank, as I have never seen a guy in real life or on video who can go as hard as him, for as long as he did ! Paddy would indeed try to long the fight out, and would lead with the jab while looking for an opening, but Elias is something else and would be all over him like a swarm of wasps ! Paddy is well into his 40's now, and Davey isn't yet 30, and so getting into his prime, so I'll agree again !

Are the Lowther's Irish or English ? Apparently Mandy Lowther is a cage fighter, and was also a referee for the fight between Jimmy Maloney and Felix Rooney, he had a tough job holding the crowds back in that fight, as shown by the uncontrollable scenes at the end of the fight, where Dan Rooney's son Miley was attacked for no apparent reason. Wether or not Lowther was involved I don't know.

Irish English. Based in Leeds. Mandy is doing a pretty long stretch as far as I know. His brother Jimmy was a brilliantly schooled amateur and pro. Jimmys son, Mandy, is a very talented kid I've watched since the schoolboys, boxed for England youth, etc. Not seen him on the scene for a bit, though.

Ah ok, is that Irish English as a mixed heritage between Irish and English Romany, or is he Irish being born in England ?

Hey Cigano ! Just out of interest who were you referring to when you mentioned that Elias "beat his mate BJS a couple times last year at the tough mudder runs" ? I thought it might be a referrence to World Champion boxer Billy Joe Saunders. I was also thinking it might have been a fight lol, that would also suggest that Elias is an 'Unofficial World Champion" ! ( I have no doubt he could have been if he had been in boxing as long as Billy Joe ! ) But then I looked again and saw that you were most likely referring to his fitness in beating Billy Joe ( If that's who you meant ) in some running event. Even so, to beat a World Champion boxer in a run is no mean feat ! But it's no surprise as it's plain to see in the vid how physically fit the man is !

I don't know. I knew of Jimmy since he was a young teen in Leeds. I'll ask young Mandy when I see him.

It's nothing urgent like, just out of interest, but thanks ! Jimmy Maloney from Leeds is a good man to fight !

Rufus if your about then inbox me about some very serious allegations made about you by one 'Robert Logan Williamson' you know who I mean. By the way I don't believe them, and thought it best to keep out of the "public eye" so to speak !
