Willie Pep (229-11-1) isn't an option for best record?
Re: Which Boxer had the best record ever?
Jimmy Wilde
132-3-1
Of course, there's always Ricardo Lopez and Rocky Marciano.

You are a hilariously bad poster. I can't even tell if you're a troll.

Yeah if you're talking just numbers 132-3-1 is a phenomenal markJCS wrote:Jimmy Wilde

No Marciano?!
Re: Which Boxer had the best record ever?
If you'd put Marciano, you'd have to put Floyd too since they have the same record. Ricardo Lopez as well. Since he's also unbeaten and has one more win than them.reggaereggae wrote:No Marciano?!
Re: Which Boxer had the best record ever?
So, why not put them all as choices ? On paper, they have best records.gilgamesh wrote:If you'd put Marciano, you'd have to put Floyd too since they have the same record. Ricardo Lopez as well. Since he's also unbeaten and has one more win than them.reggaereggae wrote:No Marciano?!

Packey McFarland had a great record.
Edwin Valero's will take some beating.

I often wonder if Chepppaaa is a troll or just hard of thinking.
But including Manny Pacquiao in this poll tells me I was right on both counts.
He's fornicating at it and so stupid he thinks he's good at it.
Just go away.

climbing 10divisions the way he did beating up 3 mexican legends marquez, morales, barrera, beating the biggest puertican superstar in the last 7 years in cotto, just the overall quality of oposition he had, never been done in boxing before.
how is the weather in scotand, raining hahah
Re: Which Boxer had the best record ever?
Not overly impressive numbers but for a modern fighter Oscar De La Hoya has practically every significant boxer (super feather to middle ) on his record from the 90s and early noughties
Re: Which Boxer had the best record ever?
Either Sugar Ray Robinson or Henry Armstrong.
Both best a multitude of very good fighters.

Re: Which Boxer had the best record ever?
Bernard Hopkins also had an credible record.

Or Sandy Saddler, for goodness sake! There are so many fighters with amazing records. Why pick the few that you did?

I'm fullay aware of Pacquiaos acheivements. Very impressive.
But there's good, great and all time great.
Pacquiao is great, at his best he was devastating, his accomplishments and record are fantastic.
But best record ever? Don't be silly.
Go look at the records of Robinson, Armstrong, Langford, Greb, Pep, Moore, Charles.
I could go on at length here to dismatle the assertion that it's "never been done before" but it's been a long day and I quite frankly can't be arsed wasting my time on it.
Just to say. Many boxers have done things that no other has done. Just google the names above. All have acheivements that match or better that of Mannny.
Beating the best puerto rican in the last 7 years....

dude, i know boxing. go look in boxrec at the records of the guys you mentioned!!! 80 % of the opponents they had were sparring partners with 3-5-2 records. imagine pac or ggg boxing every 3 weeks against a cab driver, ggg would be something like 104-0-0, just like chavez build his career beating 80 tomato cans before facing quality and than having an atg record with over 100 fights. dont let record foul you.
i say it again. climbing 10 freaking division, beating the big names he beat is more than atg material, its top 10 ever, top of the top!!!

Armstrong held the featherweight, lightweight and welterweight titles simultaniously. He didn't even bother making the weight for the welterweight title, he just strolled in at 133lbs against another ATG in Barney Ross, so he could go in less than 3 months later to lift the lightweight title against ATG LW Lou Ambers.
A record 19 WW title defences that he never once actually weighed in at the 147lb limit for.
Could have (should have) won the middleweight title, weighing 142 for the 160 crown. Fighting for, what would have been the 4th weight division crown in an era when there were only 8 world titles to be won.
Defeated 16 world champions
Fought 181 times
Won 151 times
Knockout 101 people
Stopped twice (Pacquiao 3 times in far less fights.)
Just 1 example of an ATG record. Not a lot of padding in there, plenty of records and firsts and great achievements and impressive opponents.
Look at the records of some of the other guys considered top 10 ATG. and Pacquiao just does not belong in that company.
He fought good fighters, he accompished great things, he set records but there is no way of arguing his record is the greatest and no way you can place him on a shortlist ahead of some of the Robinsons and Grebs and Langfords and Peps and Moores.
If you are not a troll, then you would stop posting lists with guys like Pacquiao, Rigondeaux and Roy Jones jr ahead of guys they simply cannot compete with in terms of greatness

10 divisions? There were 8 when Sam fought and he beat legends in 5 of them.Chepppaaa wrote:davie wrote:Clear skies. Just travelled up from Cornwall today, not a drop of rain all day.Chepppaaa wrote:

Re: Which Boxer had the best record ever?
It's pretty hard to be too accomplished in the Strawweight division which is usually shallow on Top fighters and fighters in general, but Lopez certainly looked to be more technically skilled than Calzaghe to me. By a pretty wide margin.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:gilgamesh wrote:If you'd put Marciano, you'd have to put Floyd too since they have the same record. Ricardo Lopez as well. Langford, greb, Robinson or Armstrong is the poll to me. Charles is the only maybe.
