Scoring in Leeds last night.
As me and Tijuana1 have been harsh critics of BBBoC scoring in favour of the home guy, I thought it's only fair I mention a shock decision we saw last night. Our guy, the away fighter, was dropped in each of the opening two rounds of a four rounder and came out with a 38-38 draw. To be fair, our guy dominated virtually the entire bout except the knockdowns but we were still amazed he got it. He must have scored the knockdown rounds 10-9. Derek "The Rebel" Roche, in the home corner, was livid. Howard Foster reffed. Great fight too.
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
Sounds like complete and utter incompetence from the referee. Were the two knockdowns proper knockdowns? Was there a count given on each?
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
Count of eight on both occasions the first knock down a single uppercut was a great shot. I felt sorry for the first boxer of the night wrapped his own hands, got someone to corner him at the last minute as he came to the venue by himself. Lost every round and got dropped heavily then drove to home by himself to the other side the country

Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
Luke lost first round 10-8.
Second round yes luke was knocked down but massively won the round 10-10
3&4 Luke wins 10-9 both rounds
Score 38-38.
No one can argue with the result or scoring it was spot on for once.

Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
Yes best fight of night. Luke did dominate the fight rounds.
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
Why does it. Rounds aren't automatically scored 10/8 because of knock downs.Stuarty30 wrote:Sounds like complete and utter incompetence from the referee. Were the two knockdowns proper knockdowns? Was there a count given on each?

I wasn't arguing, I agree it was correct, I was still amazed, though. I've never seen it before. I bet you didn't think you were going to get a draw.glennbanks wrote:Luke lost first round 10-8.

That's how i scored it.
Brilliant fight, both guys gave it their all, no loser in that fight, literally or metaphorically!
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
I agree Micky correct result just never seen it before like you. He had some balls and bottle and determination to score a draw. Well done Luke the away fighter actually having a go.
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
Please tell me the above post is a joke regarding a 10-10 round when he is knocked down, that's impossible. You lose a point as soon as your dropped. 1st round would be a 10-8 second round either a 10-9 or a 9-9 round. They don't need a second chance to give them home fighters a let off though.
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
No but you lose a point automatically so if the fella that was down went on to dominate should it not be a 9-9. I personally usually score a 10-8 unless it is under exceptional circumstances. I don't really score rounds 10-8 unless someone has been down either. I know some folk do if the round has been particularly one sided. I didn't see the fight in question so I am only commenting on the initial post. Sounds like a couple of the guys agree with the result so perhaps I was a bit harsh.jonny wrote:Why does it. Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
It was the away fighter, our friend, who was knocked down and got the 10-10 round. We are pleased. He did dominate every second of the round except the knockdown, I was still shocked though.JamieM wrote:Please tell me the above post is a joke regarding a 10-10 round when he is knocked down, that's impossible. I would need to check but I'm sure as soon as you are dropped you automatically lose the round also.

Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
Well, it was an A* ref! Fair, just unexpected.
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
If the away fighter dominated the round so well but got put down then giving the home fighter the round by 10/9 then thats awarding him 2 points for the knockdown 10/10 sounds fair to meJamieM wrote:Please tell me the above post is a joke regarding a 10-10 round when he is knocked down, that's impossible. Please tell me your post is a joke!! A 9-9 round when the UK score to the 10 point must system. Sit down and be quiet FFS.JamieM wrote:Please tell me the above post is a joke regarding a 10-10 round when he is knocked down, that's impossible. You automatically lose a point if you go down do you not? I've seen rounds scored 9-8 etc so I don't see why you're wetting your knickers at the guys comment?Realistic wrote:Please tell me your post is a joke!! Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
Ten Point Must means that (before referee deductions) at least one fighter must score ten points. A round where fighter A is absolutely outboxed by fighter B but scores a KD is usually scored 10-9 to fighter A. If B also hurts A, knocks him everywhere but down I guess you could justify 10-10 but I don't think I've ever seen it.
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
Realistic is right 10 point must systemStuarty30 wrote:You automatically lose a point if you go down do you not? Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
You have not seen a UK bout scored 9-8 etc, one fighter has to be awarded 10 points. Go and sit next to the other chapStuarty30 wrote:You automatically lose a point if you go down do you not? Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
This isnt true a knockdown means you get a point advantage if someone id dominating a round and winning it 10.9 clearly,a knockdown is worth a point so a flash knockdown in those circumstances would take a 10.9 round back to 10.10 doesnt happen very much but it is the correct interpretation of the rules.JamieM wrote:I would need to check but I'm sure as soon as you are dropped you automatically lose the round also.
If a knockdown is worth 2 points or an automatic 10.8 round regardless of what is happining elsewhere then really most knockdowns rounds should be scored 10.7 if the fighter is winning the round 10.9 then scores a knockdown which is worth two points then most knockdown rounds would be scored 10.7.
When you think about it its correct but even for me knowing the rules it doesnt sit right or feel right. But applying the rule correctly means more rounds could be scored 10.9 or even 10.10 is scored right
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
the ten point must system is correct even when a point is taken away you take if from the score afterwards so its still a 10.9 round on paper.
Re: Scoring in Leeds last night.
If you are knocked down you lose a point simple as that! My point is that I didn't know how he could score it 10-10 and maybe a 9-9 if I would thought anytging but if it's a 10 point scoring system then it automatically makes it a 10-9 round and my second comment of you can't win the round if your dropped ?
