Ibrahim Balla stopped a badly overmatched Emanuel Micallef in the 1st round last night to win the vacant Australian featherweight title.
Balla won the vacant Australian super bantamweight title in his last fight and the win moves him to 9-0.

No disrespect intended but there was a time when you could shake a tree and featherweights would fall out ready to give a good account of themselves. Just an observation really.
The talent have moved up a couple of divisions over the years.

We used to be very competitive in the bantamweight and lightweight divisions years ago. But I think small guys, and there aren't too many around these days, are preferring to be jockeys.
