Herol Graham vs Chris Johnson
Herol Graham vs Chris Johnson
A tribute to the current ailing Herol Graham, one of his finest performances in my opinion.
Herol had been out of the ring for four years after losing three of his previous four fights (one of these the horrific KO loss to Julian Jackson) he came back at Supermiddle and didn't look particularly impressive beating the tiny American Terry Ford and Bradford fighter Craig Joseph.
Chris Johnson was world rated, unbeaten in 18 and also a former star amateur with a 250 - 10 record:

There should have only been one winner really but .....

Superb performance.
Get well soon Herol.

I agree with you, johnson looked like he was going to have a breakdown. I really thought he was going to quit in the ring and do a 'no mas no mas' kind of thing.stujones wrote:for me it was his best performance.

I remember watching this and my heart was in my throat the whole time. I really thought Herol would get caught and stopped but he boxed brilliantly and with so much confidence. I really liked how he came across and when he was in his groove was really good to watch, many times though I wanted him to win so much I'd get really stressed out watching him - I'm not sure I enjoyed watching!
Re: Herol Graham vs Chris Johnson
Loved this fight, along with Holmes-Mercer it's one of the great 'old-manning' examples. Johnson just didn't know what to do with him. It was like that vs Brewer, until later in the fight obviously.
Re: Herol Graham vs Chris Johnson
Its his timing that was fabulous this night. Started off brilliantly, but just when you start to think age might catch up with him. He steps it up and you can see him putting more snap and power in his punches.
Re: Herol Graham vs Chris Johnson
That fight still gives me tears - he was just 7 minutes or so away.... I don't think he was hurt so much more "stuck" on the ropes.... he couldn't get out.Flump wrote:Loved this fight, along with Holmes-Mercer it's one of the great 'old-manning' examples. I have missed this news - is Herol not well at the mo?Offal wrote:A tribute to the current ailing Herol Graham, one of his finest performances in my opinion.... Get well soon Herol.

I think Parson Cross (who knows Herol personally) said that he is recovering after an operation to remove his appendix; he's lost some weight but is on the mend.olij999 wrote:I have missed this news - is Herol not well at the mo?Offal wrote:A tribute to the current ailing Herol Graham, one of his finest performances in my opinion.... Things looking positive but its a road to recovery rather than just around the bend.
I don't know how to put photos on here but Colin Macmillan and Frank Bruno have visited him in the last few days.
Get well soon champ x

Hope he gets well soon. Great fighter often overlooked by the General British public for his achievements.

im not sure if folks saw, but i put up a few pics on the other herol graham thread.
Re: Herol Graham vs Chris Johnson
Never seen it before for some reason so have just watched it, couldn't take the smile off my face the entire fight herol was fantastic, a proper hardened veteran by that stage but with all the old skills, Johnson must have thought he was in a nightmare poor sod !
Re: Herol Graham vs Chris Johnson
Never saw this at the time (it was fought or this thread was posted.)
Tremendous performance. Johnson must have come to the ring heavy favourite, young up and coming undefeated fighter probably just a few fights from a world title shots, up against a 37 year old, with some solid losses and a 4 year spell out of the ring.
But his movement was a joy to behold.
Other than the 5th round it was all Herol.
