I suppose you would think that if you are one of the hostile Polish crowd in the arena. Szpilka probably won the first 3 rounds, but was clearly behind on all three cards before getting ktfo. He had an awkward style, for sure.

Wilder may be one of those guys that fights up or down to his competition, and I expect him to be in top form for Povetkin. Should be a good fight for as long as it lasts.

I'm not sure who to pick here. Wilder's power is beyond doubt and he's been showing much more technical ability since his competition increased. He looked woefully inept at times early on when he was windmilling shots at office workers and old men, but he showed restraint and ability over his last few outings.
I've always like Povetkin, and if this was 18 months ago I'd have certainly gone for Povetkin. Now I'm not too sure. I don't think we've seen the best of Wilder yet, whereas we know what to expect from Povetkin.
Wilder's punch could end it early against anyone, as long as he can land. That's where I'm struggling with this one. It took him a while to catch up with his last few and that included a dodgy moment or two against Molina.
Honestly, I can see an argument for pretty much any eventuality in this one, but I'm leaning to a Wilder decision.
Whatever happens, it's likely to beat the pants off Klitscho-Fury 2.

After this fight I reckon I'll be logging out for a while, there are some very odd posters about. It'll be like a school playground in here.

I had Wilder ahead by a round but, let's face it, a true world class fighter shouldn't be dropping 3 rounds against the likes of Szpilka.

Haye, Fury, Povetkin, Wlad... they wouldn't lose a round against him.

After seeing Wilder a few times I think his power is a little overrated, but his chin is a little underrated. I'd say he deserves a top 2-6 ranking, but really he's nothing special. You can say he's been exposed more than once in victory.

While Wilder can move and box, the facts are he struggles at times vs. non-top ten level people. Povetkin though older is still sharp and rips the same men Wilder had issues with.

I see Povetkin winning via TKO6, hurting Wilder with a left hook that makes his legs look wobbly like a new born dear ( Wilder has rail thin legs ), then finshing him off in a corner until the referee stops it.

"Povetkin though older is still sharp and rips the same men Wilder had issues with." - Who??? If I remember well the only one they both met was Firta.
According to Povetkin's fans here Firta was solid boxer than Povetkin messed with him 10 rounds(UD) in 2010, but became a bum when Wilder destroyed him in 4th at 2013...

I doubt it. How many of the top so called elite (pick anyone) always win all 12 rounds against any top 20 contender? Very rarely. Szpilka is decent, had a good game plan, and had an awkward style.

By the way, I should add that although I think Wilder is a top 5 heavyweight, I don't consider him one of the top elite guys, not yet anyway.

No point going AWOL. Nothing will change -- except possibly for the worse. Best to mentally edit out all the nonsense... which is about 90% of posts.

Nah, he'll leave Russia with a lot less than he arrives with.

It will be easier than his fight with Stiverne and Wilder will score a stoppage.

I'm really struggling to pick a winner in this, so many variables to consider
Styles
Strengths
Weaknesses
Height
Weight
Reach
Age
Venue
This really is a tough one to pick
But I think i'm going to lean slightly towards......
Povetkin, a country mile ahead on all scorecards, against a Wilder fighting scared and out of his depth, Alexander pummels him mercilessly into the canvas in the 7th round.
Wilder states sheepishly in his post fight interview that he was sure his water tasted of rohypnol

hats off, sir. how fast a thinker you are. in half
a post you come from struggling to pick a winner
to a precise 7 round KO being a mile ahead on all
cards and on top you predict a cheating scandal.

very impressive.

It's actually the case. Most of russian fans consider his fight with Klichko as a disgrace, and suspect his post-Klitchko fights as fixed.

I'm working in Russia for 20 years, have a lot of friends where and I'm fluent in Russian. So I know a bit...
