Christ, Jack Johnson got a heavyweight world title shot, im sure K2 couldve got him a fight
Lara has been calling him out for 18 months.
Just seems a shame we've never seen the best of him. Its frustrating.
Dont think ive ever seen him tested, at all.
Wish list - ko wade, fight Canelo, then move to 168 and fight De Gale or Jack. Think Abraham would be made for GGG.

Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
Who on Earth would want to watch Lara completely ruin 36 minutes of life? That "callout" is one of the weakest myths in fanboy history, has not held any weight or created an ounce of true interest. The only thing certain about GGG and Ward is their undeniably talented in there own ways. Andre is going to shut a lot of people up soon, and Golovkin will get a big fight and won't disappoint.
Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
After Canelo vacates/is stripped and Golovkin luring Saunders in the ring by offering a huge purse, Gennady should consider fighting Ward at 168. Now when Ward gained some muscle and is a full blown LHW, 168 is a fair deal. They could realistically fight next winter. Of course for that Ward would need to beat Barrera and then beat or duck Kovalev ...SFW wrote:Who on Earth would want to watch Lara completely ruin 36 minutes of life? 168 was a fair deal the minute lil g was trying to fight Froch and Chavez jr without a catchweight.ikorolev wrote:After Canelo vacates/is stripped and Golovkin luring Saunders in the ring by offering a huge purse, Gennady should consider fighting Ward at 168. But, of course, the "most feared man in boxing" decided he needed a catchweight at 164- a weight which
would obviously compromise Ward, perhaps greatly- before he could get in the ring.
Now at 168? Not so much.
Lil g rehydrates to 170 plus anyway. Let him come up.
And he is going to have to if Ward pulls of beating Kovalev in the end of this year.
Ward will be the unquestioned A-side then.

Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
Why did Floyd fight Oscar at 154 but make Canelo come down to 152? Oscar was the one bringing the money so Floyd went to him, Froch or Chavez Jr would be the ticket sellers if they were to fight GGG. Ward on the other hand barely sells in his hometown. Sure his style isn't the most interesting but he's been terribly managed/promoted. An Olympic Gold medal winning fighter who hasn't lost since he was a kid, fought tough opposition and was one of the top p4p fighters before his hiatus. How can he be so unknown, it's scandalous really.koolkc107 wrote:168 was a fair deal the minute lil g was trying to fight Froch and Chavez jr without a catchweight.ikorolev wrote:After Canelo vacates/is stripped and Golovkin luring Saunders in the ring by offering a huge purse, Gennady should consider fighting Ward at 168. That being said I hate catch weights so if they were to fight I'd much prefer it to be at 168.

The problem with your logic is that Golovkin is nobody's A-side and certainly not Ward's.Deadendgeneration wrote:Why did Floyd fight Oscar at 154 but make Canelo come down to 152? And if Ward can beat Kovalev- not an easy thing, we can all agree- there is just no way he would ever be.
Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
Ward will never be an A side against Golovkin if GGG keeps winning and has all 4 MW belts. An ugly win against Kovalev (which I doubt will happen) wouldn't suddenly make Ward popular among casual fans.
Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
All 4 middleweight belts does not equate to appeal.. everyone on Earth knows these belts are diluted and the sanctioning bodies are a joke. It has never been more possible to get a "World" title than it is today.ikorolev wrote:Ward will never be an A side against Golovkin if GGG keeps winning and has all 4 MW belts. Ward has more time in the spotlight, he's fought better fighters, but the majority want to see an action style like Golovkin, cuz the crowd wants blood. People might say they don't but they do. It boggles my mind how GGG gets so such damn disrespect, this is what we should want. A damn monster middleweight who comes to destroy, sticks his chin out, presses the fight, has weaknesses that can be exploited but fights fearlessly. Level of opposition can take a lil knock, but wtf. Ward's situation has been more frustrating honestly, he's gifted and hasn't even been able to show it. Other than to a few grudge collectors, Ward has been top notch in and for boxing. Expect them both to shine. If they meet up down the road, Ward likely wins. But their both great.

Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
Golovkin is absolutely a bigger draw than Ward. Not even close. He sells out large arenas on both coasts. Ward can draw in Oakland, that's pretty much it. Agreed that the belts don't matter and Ward could get some shine off of the Sergey fight.

I don't have the Lara hate that many of you hold. I've seen him in some really good fights. Paul Williams received a gift v Lara. He showed great heart v Angulo. The GingerHead fight could have gone either way. He literally schooled Trout.SFW wrote:Who on Earth would want to watch Lara completely ruin 36 minutes of life? I would love to see how 3G would deal with a slick boxer like Lara. 3G has faced no one on Lara's level of skills and gifts combined.

Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
I like Lara, one of my favorites. Matched properly he delivers.
Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
Bullshit, I bet GGG would KO him, every different result would be surprise. The biggest problem of Ward is weak punch, with strong punch he would be boxer complete as GGG.
Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
I would like to see GGG against Lara at 160 and Ward at 168 after Canelo is stripped and Saunders is beaten. Who will people want him to fight after that ?Tanzio wrote:I don't have the Lara hate that many of you hold. I've seen him in some really good fights. Paul Williams received a gift v Lara. Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
While Lara gets credit for the skills he has shown, he's also the same guy that drew maybe even lost to Molina drew with Vanes, guys have figured him out. An intelligent stalker like Golovkin WILL find the target. A past it Angulo got him twice, GGG is levels above that in terms of danger. I don't see how that would be some ultimate test.. a good one maybe.. anyone coming up in weight has even more of a disadvantage, Lara is fast but he'd get caught.
Re: Ward > GGG, And Here Is Why...
GGG is fun to watch with his entertaining style ala RJJ, Ward reminds me of watching a more active Winky Wright.
