i think there is truth in that it is a premiture title challenge, years ago he wouldnt have got a title shot this quick, saying that many years ago there was only 1 title belt. This day and age many top fighters do not need to face each other Lennox Lewis v Riddock Bowe for example. Their roads never met simply because there were other titles to be had. Bowe throwing his WBC belt in the trash bin wouldnt have happened if there was only 1 belt ght for. Lewis and Bowe would have met at some point.

It was wrong that the IBF stripped Fury but thats boxing these days.

Joshua hasnt earned a title shot but it happens now as there are fighters who simply do not want to face each other anymore, so someone has to fight for the titles. And there will be plenty of people who will want to given the chance.

Joshua can win the belt and avoid who he wants to for several defences, take weaker opposition until the IBF says he has to fight someone he doesnt or has to. This is where AJ could come unstuck. Saying that AJ ight be the real deal and go on to take all belts on offer, that we will have to wait and see, however, this day and age it wont happen. I doubt we will ever have a champion who holds every belt on offer (the top 4 or 5 governing bodies) .

I dont think AJ will have a long career, maybe 30 odd fights max.

Who are these doubters?

He's been one of the more over-hyped fighters in recent history.
Many(including camp eddie) have proclaimed him the best heavyweight out there, future undisputed champion among other unearned titles.

He has casual fans drooling over him, serious backing from a top promoter and the biggest TV company and enough money and hype behind him that newly crowned world champions are calling him.

He has beaten no one and his only decent challenge to date, a domestic level rival, giving him a serious test and asking questions of him.
Yet here he is, top of the rankings of a major governing body, skipping the queue ahead of top fighters who have done more to earn their place and getting a world title shot against arguably the weakest heavyweight world champion in recent history, with the opportunity to make a small fortune defending that title on PPV against moderate opposition.

Now there are some that don't like the guy. I'm one of the more critical of him and his progress but even I think he is potentially top class and have tipped him to beat Martin.

I'm struggling to see the doubters to be honest.

And if further evidence were needed that AJ is in a privilaged position, it's this article.
A puff piece written by his very own sponsor.

I'm a fan of the guy but I can't disagree with anything you've said here. All he is at the moment is potential. I personally don't have a problem with him skipping the que and it's a bit hypocritical on my part because if it were any other weight class it would bother me. The heavyweight division has been so bland for so long now I am just desperate to see some excitement and potential unifications etc...

It could be they have moved him on too quickly and he gets chinned. Time will tell. If that happens to be the case then Eddie Hearn and Sky have to shoulder a lot of the blame. They were desperate to get AJ on to PPV asap and a world title helps them sell these events to the casuals. I've tipped him to beat Martin too but you just never know. Khan Prescott springs to mind!

Also if he does win he'll probably have a soft first defence then he'll more than likely have to take on the Parker v Takam winner.

How exactly has he silenced the doubters? He hasn't even fought a top 30 fighter yet and was struggling at times against Dillian Whyte who hasn't shown himself to be anything more than British level.

I agree with the general sentiment but sadly there are no deserving unbelted heavyweight contenders currently except Povetkin, who is aiming for Wilder.

Tyson Fury got a title shot without fighting anybody. Deontay Wilder and Charles Martin are champions - and they got there without fighting anybody.

The crop of contenders are profoundly uninspiring, and all are on the same con - avoiding each other en route to a paper title payday.

Joshua at least by bashing Johnson and Whyte has mildly distinguished himself from the muck, but if boxing were anything more than a corrupt sewer then the WBA and IBF belts would be in Tyson Fury's hands and he and Wilder would be obliged to box each other immediately.

Well there is Wlad, but he's tied up with the rematch.

Exactly, he doesn't really qualify because of his situation - and he might be champ again shortly (please god no).

Dillian Whyte would probably win against Deontay Wilder for example, he just hasn't had the chance. Whyte KOed all of the opponends both he and Parker had in less time as it took Parker and Whyte can take a hell of a beating before finally going down. Also, please note that Americans very often have a crazy high ranking if they haven't fought Europeans yet. Just look at the top 20 of the American heavyweight boxers of this very moment.

What's this based on? People seem to think Joshua is good because he beat Whyte, and think Whyte is good because he put up a fight with AJ, it's weirdly circular.

That article made me feel a bit sick. Truly dreadful.

Didn't really make sense either, said that the other boxers want to fight him which shows he's ready. He generates income for them, more so than elsewhere. Very little mention of Martin as I'd they couldn't be arsed to read about him.

I'd say I'm a critical of him, mainly this was due to him being on ppv and fighting nobody. For me this fight had to happen otherwise people would switch off. If he's going to stay on ppv then he needs to move to being the best by fighting the best not filling time fighting drive and justifying it as 'world' title fights.

Jason Gavern fought both and has a very clear opinion, if you think otherwise then that's oké to me, but as a direct opponend of both boxers I think he's quite right and I've seen both fights on vid, and come to the same conclusion.

Well if you in your infinite wisdom and Jason 'punch drunk' Gavern think so then it must be a fact. Woooo

Do you not think that's a bit unfair?

If I offered you two jobs - both identical in terms of difficulty, but one paid twice as much, which one would you take?

If anything the "blame" lies with Hearn/Sky - they are the ones that arrange the opponents, book the card and decide whether the event will be PPV or not

Agreed. Disliking a fighter because he's earning a lot of money is bonkers. Providing fighters are clean year in year out, I don't begrudge them a penny.

The Martin fight will still be inconclusive as he's a unknown quantity aswell.

Be interesting to see how Whyte develops in the next 18 months to use his performances as a yardstick on how good Joshua is.

I can see Joshua beating Martin getting Fed a couple of soft defences before Haye or Parker next year.

I didn't say i disliked him. I said I was critical of him. I don't begrudge any fighter their income but I can criticise his level of opponent and the platform he is on.

Looking back it probably wasn't worded too well. It's more the team I'm critical of and Joshua is the front of that. I do want him to win and world title and face the likes of fury, wilder and maybe even Haye
