kovalev would beat ward, cause he is bigger stronger, much heavier puncher. but if we talk same size, same weight, p4p, than ward outboxes him.

besides rigo ward is the best technician in boxing. barrera was much bigger than ward and ward just schooled him at times. wards upper body movemant, boxing is techic is up there with the best ever. that simple, thats why he is the second best boxer in the world right now.

Based on ability, Ward is arguably #1, but taking into account his inactivity and poor quality of opposition until today's fight, he probably shouldn't be top 5 yet.

overall size....arms, reach.....and surely weight. look at ward barrera, they weight the same, but barrera was much bigger an stronger. also kovalev looks more 6'2 than 6'0

Yep, so close it doesn't really matter:

Ward
Height: 6'0"
Reach: 71"
Weight: 175lb
Fight night weight: 186lb

Kovalev
Height: 6'0"
Reach: 72.5"
Weight: 175lb
Fight night weight: 189lb

No question that Kovalev is the much harder puncher.

I could definitely see 6'1" for Kovalev - he looks eye-to-eye with Hopkins who I believe is a legit 6'1".

okay okay.....ward and krusher are the same size and the same weight.

but what is a big difference is that ward is more of a natural middleweight/super middleweight and krusher is a natural light heavyweight. and that is an important difference. cause ward has natural midd./sm power and kovalev has natural light heavyweight power, to be honest he is so strong its more cruiserweight power that krusher has.

ward could outtechnic him, but if kovalev can outpower, outwrestle, outclinch ward.

Yeah, right. Kovalev fought at MW in amateurs at the age when Ward fought at LHW.

Yeah, right. Kovalev fought at MW in amateurs at the age when Ward fought at LHW.
Yet Ward fought a few times in his early professional career at middleweight, while Kovalev's entire professional career has been at light heavyweight. Ward may have been the bigger guy at some point, but he could probably still make super middleweight now and I doubt Kovalev could. Still, these guys are so similar in size it's silly to be having a discussion about it.

I'd agree that Ward is a natural super middleweight (not middleweight though, Ward hasn't fought at that weight since he was 22) and Kovalev is a natural light heavyweight. Kovalev is far more powerful, not because he's the very slightly bigger guy, but because he's naturally heavy-handed (I absolutely agree he hits like a cruiserweight and I'm sure he hits harder than many heavyweights too) and Ward isn't. That said, I don't see Kovalev outwrestling or outclinching Ward - if they fight, Ward's best tactic is to regularly get rough on the inside where he has always been strong.

Remember, punching power and physical strength are two very different things. Ward isn't a big puncher, but he's very strong on the inside.

I had a feeling rigondeaux would eventually garner the top spot on his list...rigondeaux just keeps moving up by default...

Having Ward number 2 is the least of the problems with that crappy list.

So this is how one is determined to be ahead of another just because (you think) he might be afraid to fight him??

That is some seriously idiotic and ridiculous stuff.

Canelo has a far better resume than GGG, he is far more accomplished than Golovkin and he's beaten better competition than GGG.

What else is there to determine who should be ahead of who in P4P??

If you're solely going by resume then Pac is still number one. There's much more that goes into the most vilified of all fictional doesn't mean anything lists than just resume.
