Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
Who wins the fight of these combo based type of fighters?
P.S Doesnt Eubank train with Booth? Why was his father in the corner again?

Probably be at 158.5lbs
I had to laugh at Eubank Sr and Ronnie Davies giving conflicting advice to Jr on more than one occasion.
Eubank Sr: 'You're not going to knock him out with head shots, concentrate on the body'
Ronnie: 'Just keep doing what you're doing, it's working for you'
His dad wants banning from the corner it's always slightly farcical when he's involved, when Booth was in the corner last time Sr was busy dancing between rounds and the Board Inspector had to bollock him and tell him to pass up the bucket. I can see he's going lose Jr a point as well if he doesn't start leaving the ring a bit quicker.

Honestly think Eubank would do Canelo. Not by a clear margin but a win none the less. This would be an epic fight. The decision could end up an absolute horror show because of Canelo being at home!

The Food Court has applied for a special extension to opening hours, so a selection of hot food and beverages will be available.

Alvarez by KO, far too good for Eubank.

Not sure. Eubank is pretty accurate and he looks good when he opens up!expe wrote:Alvarez by KO, far too good for Eubank.

Canelo has to get past Khan first, we could be looking a Khan vs Eubank if Khan does the business in May
Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
Against Latvians, Chudinov, O'Sullivan and Blackwell, all of whom walked forward in straight lines without moving their head and stood in front of him, Alvarez is levels above all of them and Eubank is perfect for him, doesn't have the power to hurt him with a single punch so he can stand and trade with him and there's only going to be one winner there, Alvarez is better defensively and better technically, would leave Eubank swinging into thin air and walking onto big shots IMO.Stuarty30 wrote:Not sure. Last night was the first time that I've really been impressed by Eubank, much more measured than usual, but he's still got a long way to go before he's capable of competing at world level, a lot of major flaws that need to be worked on.
Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
I could see Eubank winning that fight, we all know he struggles with fast feet, which really does not describe Canelo, however on the flip side Eubank's jab is hideous and merely a range finder at best, so his only success would be at Mid-close range via hooks/uppercuts, just where Canelo would want him?
Stylistically it's a great fight, but probably Canelo would have too much for him. Especially with the moronic corner work, if it got tough, then who Knows How Davies and SR would be. I suspect rather poor and fragmented.

Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
If that comment you made was regarding Eubank v GGG then I'd totally agree. You're being far too complimentary of Canelo here. He isn't anything special. Alvarez has never left anyone 'swinging into thin air' mate. He just isn't that type of fighter and he just isn't THAT good.expe wrote:Against Latvians, Chudinov, O'Sullivan and Blackwell, all of whom walked forward in straight lines without moving their head and stood in front of him, Alvarez is levels above all of them and Eubank is perfect for him, doesn't have the power to hurt him with a single punch so he can stand and trade with him and there's only going to be one winner there, Alvarez is better defensively and better technically, would leave Eubank swinging into thin air and walking onto big shots IMO.Stuarty30 wrote:Not sure. This. It's all about levels. Eubank got hit a fair bit last night. I think once he and Saunders step in to true world class then we will see that both don't really belong at that level. Both are more continental class imoexpe wrote:Alvarez by KO, far too good for Eubank.
Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
Saunders is world class IMO, if it wasn't for his poor fitness, which he's hopefully on the way to sorting out, there's only Golovkin at the weight that I'd pick to beat him. He's already stepped up to world level and won while boxing within himself.lillywhite14 wrote:This. It's all about levels. Eubank got hit a fair bit last night. Why are we talking about this twat Canelo at 160? He's middleweight champ without actually fighting a middleweight! Call me biased but I'd take BJS and Eubank Jnr to take him. He's a good young fighter but he is very overrated.
Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
Because he defeated the lineal middleweight champion Cotto, a lineage which goes back to Bernard Hopkins when he battered Tito. I do agree about him being very overrated though.Stuarty30 wrote:Why are we talking about this twat Canelo at 160? He's middleweight champ without actually fighting a middleweight! His catchweight opposition is still immensely better than O'Sullivan, Blackwell, and Chudinov.Stuarty30 wrote:Why are we talking about this twat Canelo at 160? I never said you did.
I just think it's a point worth mentioning since you're knocking one guy's opposition in the context of picking less proven fighters to beat him.

Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
I get that. Cotto took Martinez who was arguably the top dog at the time. Martinez was on his last legs though and apart from that fight neither Cotto nor Canelo has fought a top middleweight. The best middleweight on the planet is GGG and neither wants anything to do with him.banjo wrote:Because he defeated the lineal middleweight champion Cotto, a lineage which goes back to Bernard Hopkins when he battered Tito. Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
If you read my point I wasn't knocking the opposition as such, just the weight class. He's middleweight champion and doesn't want to fight at the weight limit. These catch weights get on my nipple ends.crusader wrote:I never said you did.

Nobody can criticise Canelo for opposition. He's a young guy and taken on all comers.
Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
I think Eubank would beat him from what I've seen of both. Nothing to do with who they've fought or anything. On paper Canelo wins at a canter but I honestly think Eubank does him. I've been known to be wrong in the past though!crusader wrote:I never said you did.

Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
Eubank doesn't strike me as being good enough, but maybe he'd surprise me.
Re: Chris Eubank Jr vs Canelo Alvarez @160
Recently he's been very underrated, probably because people get too hung up on what weight he's fighting at and their man love for Golovkin. He's not at elite level yet and may well never get there, but he's still a top class fighter, excellent counter puncher with superb timing. Struggles with fighters that move well which is enough for me to give Saunders a decent chance against him, but anyone that stands in front of him is going to have be a little bit special to beat him and Eubank isn't.Stuarty30 wrote:Why are we talking about this twat Canelo at 160?
