I'd love it to be Chavez Jr
Seeing Chavez Jr get mauled for 12 rounds would be quite entertaining.

Dominic Boesel is his WBO mandatory.
Re: who is kovalev expected to fight next ? *
Kova is willing to fight Barrera, and taking into account that they are both Duva's fighters, that could happen.

I'd sooner he fight Barrera when Sullivan is coming off a win or two.ikorolev wrote:Kova is willing to fight Barrera, and taking into account that they are both Duva's fighters, that could happen.
I'd like to see Barrera having a warm-up on the next Kovalev card.

Who else from top 10 is willing to fight him especially if the fight is in Russia (which they are trying to do) ?Freedom2013 wrote:I'd sooner he fight Barrera when Sullivan is coming off a win or two.ikorolev wrote:Kova is willing to fight Barrera, and taking into account that they are both Duva's fighters, that could happen.

he should fight Jurgen Brahmer
Re: who is kovalev expected to fight next ? *
Kova would even go to Germany for that fight, but Braehmer doesn't fight people with a pulse to say nothing of monsters like Krusher.thatllbeme wrote:he should fight Jurgen Brahmer

Stevenson doesn't have anything scheduled right now. Maybe now that he's 38, Haymon will be down on his long-term viability, and HBO can throw enough money at them to make it happen.
Not very likely, I know.

Stevenson is going to be served to Browne next year imo.jujigatame wrote:Stevenson doesn't have anything scheduled right now. Maybe now that he's 38, Haymon will be down on his long-term viability, and HBO can throw enough money at them to make it happen.

Why not to Beterbiev ?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Stevenson is going to be served to Browne next year imo.jujigatame wrote:Stevenson doesn't have anything scheduled right now. Maybe now that he's 38, Haymon will be down on his long-term viability, and HBO can throw enough money at them to make it happen.

Age 34 journeyman Sullivan Barrera (BoxRec #27) is not top ten on ANY light heavyweight list.ikorolev wrote:Who else from top 10 is willing to fight him especially if the fight is in Russia (which they are trying to do) ?Freedom2013 wrote:I'd sooner he fight Barrera when Sullivan is coming off a win or two.ikorolev wrote:Kova is willing to fight Barrera, and taking into account that they are both Duva's fighters, that could happen.

How the heck did Barrera become a journeyman ? By losing to a top 10 p4p fighter ? Or by having a pretty good amateur career ?

He's a fringe contender at best. His amateur career wasn't anything special - unlike many Cubans, he never won a single world medal (except once at MW at the junior level).ikorolev wrote:How the heck did Barrera become a journeyman ? Cuba never chose him to represent them in the Olympics.
He's never been in the top 20 on BoxRec, or top 10 in The Ring, Transnational, fightnews or any other credible light HW ratings.
And he's already age 34.
People are making Barrera out to be better than he is, to make Ward look good.

He can only be served to one.ikorolev wrote:Why not to Beterbiev ?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Stevenson is going to be served to Browne next year imo.jujigatame wrote:Stevenson doesn't have anything scheduled right now. Browne would have to be protected from Beterbiev then.

Maybe, I think Browne is pretty promising.
Re: who is kovalev expected to fight next ? *
I heard that Duva is the one who ruined this from happening. I do not know if that is true or not though.jujigatame wrote:Stevenson doesn't have anything scheduled right now. No. I do not want these two to cannibalize each other because no one will get in the ring with Krusher. Let a North American step up and take the challenge.ikorolev wrote:Why not to Beterbiev ?SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Stevenson is going to be served to Browne next year imo.jujigatame wrote:Stevenson doesn't have anything scheduled right now. Re: who is kovalev expected to fight next ? *
It's semi true. Duva lobbied the WBC to make Kovalev a mandatory and schedule a purse bid. Then the whole thing backfired spectacularly, as Haymon won the purse bid, and Duva had to pull Kovalev out of the fight because of their exclusive deal with HBO.Lancenix wrote:I heard that Duva is the one who ruined this from happening. So what would have happened if they had followed through? They would have fought on Showtime or?? Thanks for the answer.jujigatame wrote:It's semi true. Re: who is kovalev expected to fight next ? *
I honestly don't know how it would have worked. Haymon was obviously intending on putting the fight on Showtime or one of the other PBC-friendly channels like ESPN/NBC/CBS. I suppose if the fight had gone ahead, Kovalev and Duva would have been in breach of contract with HBO and there would have been lawsuits. It's possible HBO could have gotten an injunction and prevented the fight from happening at all. I'm not sure how ironclad those contracts between TV networks and individual fighters are.Lancenix wrote: So what would have happened if they had followed through? I've read somewhere that candidates for next fight are Braehmer or Fonfara
